great for hot weather

We use this in both white and red wines. We live in a hot area and the chiller helps even the red stay cool. Once in a glass it warms up quickly. I prefer the one made by Corksicle, but this is a nice option.

Watch out when you put in the bottle

This is nicely made and a simple and good concept. It comes with NO instructions but it is not hard to figure out. It is versatile and can be used with or without the chilling rod. The problems arise in the execution. There is a small rubber ice tray that must be frozen to produce the little rods of ice that go in the chiller part. However, the tray is very soft and flexible and I needed to put it on a small baking tray in the freezer so it would stay flat. It is also very difficult to get the water into the little rod spaces and when it freezes it overflows and makes big lumps of ice on the rods. This means the ice rods are hard to put into the chiller piece. Also -- and I guess maybe I should have thought of this -- be sure to pour out some of the wine before inserting the apparatus. If you don't, you will have wine all over the counter because it overflows with the addition of the chiller rod and the aerator part. Not bad with white wine on a granite counter but a tragedy with red wine on a white table cloth. So remove some of the wine from the bottle (your personal sample!) before using. Otherwise nicely made and well designed.

Does a decent job, could be improved

This is a good product but it could be improved. The positive: It is well made and it does the job. The ice tray will make 8 ice cylinders and the tube will use 2 at a time, so you will be able to refill the tube 4 times which is probably good (depending on how fast you drink and how warm it is) for 2 bottles. It pours nicely and does not drip. I don't know how much it aerates, but then, you will likely be using this for white wines and aeration is typically not as important for whites as it is for reds. In any case, the minimal aeration time is likely not very beneficial. Don't make the mistake I made and try and place this in a full bottle; it needs some headspace and you'll need to pour about an ounce into a glass before you insert the cooler otherwise the wine will be displaced by the cooler and will spill over. I like the icemaker, I like the drip-preventing pourer, and I like the concept. It looks neat and modern and all the parts fit together well. It's a good addition to your wine supplies. The negative: I would prefer that the ice cylinders, and cooling tube, be wider than they are. The ice, particularly if you're trying to cool a warm bottle as opposed to keeping a cool bottle cool, will melt too quickly. Thicker ice cylinders would go a long way to improving this. And, the positive again: Still, it's a very good product, it looks good and, particularly in terms of keeping a cool bottle at the desired temperature, it is a good item to have and is priced very fairly in my opinion. Mmmm not really worth it if you ask me

Maybe it's because I drink my wine fairly quickly but I just didn't notice much a difference when using this. For those of you who actually "sip" your vino, it will probably benefit you. It's easy to set up and use and it's a somewhat ingenious idea to tell the truth. But I just didn't find it to be useful if that makes sense. Get it if you want but if you're a wino like me... You probably don't need it lol

Falls short on one of the three on this 3-in-1

When I buy a delicious white, it's hard to wait for it to chill. The idea behind this one seems unreal amazing. This one falls short and hard on one of the three fronts: 1. Wine Pourer - Fantastic! 5 Stars! 2. Aerator - Fantastic! 5 Stars! 3. Chiller - Not so much <- There's your problem. First of all, know that you do need to pour some of the wine out BEFORE inserting the 3-in-1 device. The chill cylinder does get colder than I was expecting with the thin ice cubes. Maybe my issue with this one is the impatience previously stated but once you've poured a glass or two, the chiller stem barely touches the wine, or at least in the bottle I tested with. It's simply not long enough to remain submerged. Starting with a warm or slightly chilled bottle, the chiller part of this one isn't going to be very useful. It'll help if you're bottle is already chilled and this will extend the chill period once out of the fridge, but that's about as useful as I could see this as. The pourer and aerator work fantastic! But then again, this is about 4 times as expensive as a simple pourer/aerator... At this price tag, I'd personally just go the direction of a simple pourer/aerator. But if you want to feel booshy and have a conversation piece that may do minimal function for a lot more money, this 3-in-1 could be good for you.

Versatile and no matter how you use it, wine tastes good!

I'm thrilled that this one product can be used with or without the piece that has the ice because sometimes I don't need my bottle of wine to be cold, but sometimes I do! Simple design and the form that makes the ice cylinders makes enough at one time without taking much space in the freezer. Some have commented already about needing to take care when inserting it into the bottle (bottle shouldn't be full) or about sticking the silicone mold into the freezer (it can spill), but don't let that fool you because that's a mistake you only make once and doesn't detract from the product's ability.
