...Blue, if ya' didn't know. Misses Shops too much sometimes uses a "purple" shampoo, which is supposed to "normalize" color and prevent brassiness. While this AXE shampoo, makes no claims to do so, a search about blue shampoos tells me that blue shampoo is great for doing the same thing for brunettes (color treated or highlighted). So, this, geared towards younger men, 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner may well do that too; who knows. Just looking at the product, it's pretty. You can see little specks of sparkle (mica?) in it when it's in your hand/in the light. Because of the bright blue pigments in this, if you spill it on your sink, shower, whatever, you'll want to wipe it off before it dries. I actually already had some of this in my shower and wasn't even going to test this actual lot, but I read the ingredients on the old and new bottles and they were different. Another part of my motivation for testing this new version is the description of scent being "rosemary mint", which the old version doesn't seem to make claim to. There is a scent, it is between a 5 - 7 in intensity on a 10 scale (out of the bottle into your hand) which becomes pretty low key after this is washed in and rinsed out of your hair, and....(I'll get to the "and" later). So, the stuff I already had didn't smell like rosemary mint to me, and with the different ingredients, well, I had to use this version. We have rosemary plants; I cook/bake with rosemary. I know what mint and rosemary smell like. I just don't get those from this scent. Not saying that's a bad thing or that it's not somewhere in there, but I just don't perceive either. This creates a nice blue lather. Volume of lather on my hair was medium+ ; about a 5 - 7 on that 10 scale. It's interesting; when I first begin to rub the product in my hands to break it down a little, then massaging it into my scalp, the lather starts out really thick. As I leave it in my hair while cleansing my face, the lather all but disappears; mad science I guess. Perhaps the design of the product, the cleansing giving way to the conditioning. Interesting. While I knowingly ordered this as a 2 in 1, for me, I still want a real, separate conditioner after ANY 2 in 1 product. I just don't get the silkiness from a 2 in 1 that I want in my hair, which is full and healthy. Because I regularly do a lap swim workout in a public chlorinated pool, if I don't (use a separate and rich conditioner) my hair feels like straw, and testing this in that context was no exception. If you like "one and done" and your hair is happy with it great; just not quite enough conditioning for me. So, the ...."and". I put about a quarter (coin) size dollop of this on a body sponge and used it as a body wash (they also make this as a separate body wash). I actually liked this product for that purpose, so you may even consider this a "3 in 1"; we see that all the time, why should this be different, and since you're getting close to gallon of product with this 4 pack, why not? It did crazy suds on the sponge and felt pretty moisturizing on my skin. It's a nice product, glad I ordered it and I will enjoy using it. I hope this review has enabled you to make an informed purchase decision. I rarely give an overall 5 star rating.
