My dad has had a stringer of this style for 40 years and my brothers and I have always had our eye out for one to match it. Finally, I found this one and couldn't be happier that it's even better than the original. It's not clear from the description, but the advantage of this stringer is that you don't have to pull all your fish out of the water to add a new one to the stringer. The hooks stay at your end until you unclip one and put a fish on it. Then you just drop the fish in the water and his hook slides down the chain until he joins his friends. Unlike my dad's old one which bunches all the fish together at the bottom, this stringer sorts them into three sets of three fish which makes it easier for them to stay upright and get fresh water. The hooks are extremely strong and each one has a locking collar to prevent the hook from coming out accidentally. If we caught a really big fish we used to put two or three hooks in him to make sure he wouldn't get away - no need with this stringer. Your fish isn't going anywhere. If you're looking for a stringer, this is the one you want. I won't be telling my brother's where I found it or how little it costs! The chain is quite long and would work fine for fishing from shore or a dock. We find it a bit long for our rowboat in shallow water and end up clipping it to the center of the boat.

Incredibly Durable Heavy Duty Stringer, Good Value

This is an extremely durable stringer that may take a while to break in. I've had mine for about a year and haven't come close...maybe if I caught more keepers I'd be further along :) If you are hanging it off the side of a boat this could work pretty well. If you are fishing off a dock, again this could work well. If you have it strapped to your belt as you wade through a river...it would still work pretty well, but be warned. Since this is a solid metal stringer if the majority of the fish holding hooks are on the bottom of the river, that might be where your fish are too...dragging along the bottom as you walk along, or almost right underneath your feet when you stop instead of floating out behind you. That being said, as long as you are up for the durability and breaking it in (the hooks do take a little force initially to open and close), you won't be throwing away your money on this. After all, if you have a big fish that won't be swimming on the bottom these aren't plastic hooks and I don't see it getting off. I think Lindy could 100% guarantee these free of defects. The stringer is just about six feet long. Hook sizes are about 4 inches by 1 inch (but really the hook is only about 2 inches because the rest is part of the clasp system to lock it into place).

Beefy

Much beefier than some of the other stringers. Love that you can move them where you want and there’s a latch to keep it closed.

Came for the hooks only, Worth it.

I bought this for the hooks only. I needed a longer stringer, and got the idea of these hooks from an old fisherman at the lake. His hooks were on a 20 foot long rope. All his fish were bunched up at the end. Personally i dont like them bunched up like his, and how these came. I also wanted mine ULTRA visible. So i made mine out of a much brighter para cord. It has worked out great so far. Hooks are a bit thinner and smaller than i would have liked, but they do seem strong enough for most fish you will catch at the lake or rivers.

I really love this product

real stainless, fish never get a chance to escape, and it is the best product work with a wader. I lost my previous chain, and purchased this one right away. many other expensive chains can stain and rust overtime, and may cause all the fish in the chain get lost, I used my previous one for more than 10 years, still in good condition when I lost it. Other cheaper ones, just do not have the lock feature, so fish can run away accidentally, I lost many fish using the $2~$5 products. This one is perfect.

Best fish stringer on the market

Excellent design, and solid construction. The hooks got locks, and they are placed at 3 different levels (3 hooks per level), which makes it harder for the fish to get entangled. There is also a hook holder close to top, if you wish to group all the hooks together. I have used many other fish stringers, some cheaper, some more expensive. This is by far the best one. I will get another one, just in case they stop making it.
