Aquariums are a money pit - run away!!!

A new one every year or 2. Why?!? I'm glad I can find them, because we love the aquarium they fit, but they should last longer. So I keep shelling money out to keep fifty cents' worth of goldfish alive, because we can't have kids crying over floaters. Damn you, MarineLand!

Unfortunatley these impellers are no longer being made, therefore you're going to end up paying more than what the item ia actually worth. It is still alot cheaper than buying a new aquarium though.

Ordered two. Marineland was out of stock so I came to Amazon. I think these are seconds or defective. The first one never ran right, noisy no matter how I placed it in the filter unit, it was loud, like it was crooked or something. The bottom rubber "cap" always got moved or skewed out of position, every time I cleaned it I had to re adjust it, never had to do this before with an impeller. Swapped it out for the second one I ordered and one of the rubber "caps" was completely missing. Won't run right without it so I used one of the caps form the other impeller to get it to work, works great finally. If you do decide to purchase these inspect them carefully and if they don't work act accordingly so you can return them.

Marineland PR3342 impeller unit

This impeller works well until the rubber end near the green end starts getting loose from the wear of it spinning, then the impeller stops spinning, and the filter will not "filter" the water any more. An impeller seems to last about a half year or less and then needs replacement.

Buy this before you replace the whole motor

If your filter stops working buy one of these. The impeller is what seems to go bad first so it's not a bad idea to have an extra one on hand. Don't buy the whole motor till you replace the impeller, it's a much cheaper fix. Got my hex 7 back up and running.

did the trick

The plastic ends were wearing out on the previous impeller (after 10 years) causing some grinding/rattling noise. This replacement did the trick and quieted it back down to a hum.

Exact fit

Whenever you order "Marineland AMLPR3340 Motor Explorer System3 Hex5 Filter", you do NOT get the impeller. If you want a new impeller you must order it separately. We live in a region with extremely hard (scaly) water so I thought it was a great idea to get a new impeller along with the new motor assembly. This impeller fits precisely and works like a champ.

Works great with cleaning of chamber

This product replaces the original without any modification. However I found that even with a new replacement impeller you MUST clean the chamber completely to aide in proper operation. I would recommend this part without hesitation.
