After only a week or so of use, the colors are getting smeared. They also don't wipe clean very well and are easily stained. The only reason for the extra star is the fact that these are claimed to lack bpa & pvc/pthalates.

Bright & basic

These place mats feature a simple but colorful rendering of the United States. The state names are prominent. The mats wipe clean. They are a fun way to familiarize kids with basic geography The mats can be used indoors and out.

Ok, but I''m not wow'd

I've had these in rotation for about 2 weeks now and while I haven't had any issues with colors running or staining like some other reviewers I'm overall not impressed. They don't wipe down easily and overall look to be a sub par printing job, the registration of the colors is sloppy. I haven't put mine in the dishwasher so I can't comment on that feature. Overall they are ok, but I'm not wow'd

there's just lots better out there

I got the USA version, and I wish I hadn't. Beyond design issues, they just aren't very good placemats. The laminate doesn't protect them from getting stained or the laminate stains easily. The graphic design work is very lazy. All the states are outlined in black except Alaska and Hawaii are outlined in white. The 48 contiguous states are not quite the right proportion and are squished horizontally and not as wide as it should be (I assume to fill the placemat shape better). I don't mind the more childish outline of the states but it could have been done a lot more accurately and still in this style. The Montana/Whyoming/North Dakota/South Dakota/Nebraska vertical border should be a straight line! The Chesapeake Bay is mistakenly filled in with land color. Delaware completely loses it's iconic shape and it could have still had the basic shape in this placemat's bold style. Some of the issues are more nitpicky than others, but these aren't all the issues. I wanted to familiarize my kids with the states and I think other placemats do a much more realistic job while appealing to kids. It's my own fault. I should have looked closer, but I wish I would have picked a different design. This brand doesn't have anymore, but there are lots of USA placemats on Amazon.

Educational and Fun

Colorful fun well designed placemats for the table. You get 6 in the pack. Each placemat measures 11.75 inch x 17.5"". Mats have a map of of the US states. BPA and PVC free. They're waterproof and easy to wash. Only complaint is they could have maybe added the capitals with the states, make things a bit more interesting, though these are great on their own. Cute design, vivid colors, nice size, would make a nice set of mats for kids.

Great for Times Children Have to Be Seated at the “Kids’ Table”

When we have large dinner parties at the house the kids are regulated to the “kids’ table” as there isn’t enough room for everyone at the dining table. None of the kids really like the idea, so we try to make the table as fun and decorative as possible. These place mats are great. They brighten up the table, help keep the tablecloth clean (or cleaner anyway), and are very well made and easy to clean. Definitely recommend for any parent who has to deal with the task of regulating children to the kids’ table for large family gatherings.

Mealtime Quiz

On the plus side, they lie flat, they don't slip around and they seem to wipe clean okay. I like the U.S. map which is clearly labeled with all the states, fun to quiz yourself or your companions at the table. On the minus side, they don't fold, so they take up a lot of space when you aren't using them. Placemats only last a few months at our house anyway, so these will be fun until it's time for something fresh.
