Very Helpful for Teaching Language
The flashcards have been great for helping my 2 year old with developmental delays to communicate his needs more effectively. He has learned the names of various types of food (raisins) and toys (car) from using the flashcards. He will sit and look at these better than books, where he wants to turn the pages himself and will not work to point out or identify items. Having just one or two to look at one time has been very helpful for teaching. I can also use these to give him choices between items (Would you like milk or juice) and he can touch or take the card of the item that he wants. I wish they were sturdier, because he gets excited about certain cards (i.e. balloons) and the card is wrinkled like crazy. I am going to try laminating them. I also had to laugh at the flashcards for a VHS cassette and a cassette tape. My daughter (5 years old) who does not have any language delays had no idea what they were, obviously. So an update to some of the pictures, especially given the price point, would be nice. However, I know these cards are the gold standard for those with language delays and after using them for several months, it's easy to see why. They are expensive, but worth it in my opinion. The box does have room for additional cards if you expand your set with some of the other Stages Learning Materials cards.

Pleasantly Surprised to See Updated Electronics Pictures
As a BCBA who was first a behavior technician, I am quite familiar with this particular box set of pictures because I have used it extensively in the past. This box set is very helpful. It has a good variety of common stimuli in multiple categories including colors, all pictures are photographic images, all cards are the same size, and it has several examples for both identical and non-identical matching stimuli. However, this box set has always been far from perfect. Those who are familiar with it may think of the pictures of electronics in particular especially the phone and the cassette tape. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received my box of pictures this morning to find the electronics section updated. The computer is now a laptop, the TV is fairly thin, and an MP3 player and a tablet are each pictured. The main reason this box set still only gets 4 stars from me instead of 5 is that many of the other pictures look outdated in that some items appear to be outdated, like stimuli more commonly found when my husband and I were children than today. Also, it would be nice if this box set included pictures of basic human body parts (e.g., eyes, noes, arm, leg).

Good but has many outdated pictures
The cards are extremely sturdy and have a great tracking grid on the back. The pictures are vibrant and well printed. The only issue I have is that some of the toys and most of the electronics are outdated. For example there is a picture of a toy microphone that plays music on a cassette tape. I haven't seen one of those since I was a child! For basics this set is great, but don't expect to get very far with teaching electronics.

Updated pictures again in 2020!
I use these flashcards for all my clients with autism. I'm was so happy when they updated the pictures in 2016 with electronics my students would find in their homes. Well they did it again! In 2020 they updated this set again! Many pictures have been completely replaced. I'm glad the language builder company is improving their product because they are the best flashcards on the market.

Good product But they need to come down in their prices
There’s no way this product should be this expensive! Many families we work with cannot afford to buy it and we sure shouldn’t have to buy a set each time. They could come down to $100 per set and make it a little bit more durable and with some upgraded pictures. It is a good product and the fact that you can run a lot of assessments and objectives.

Perfect for SLPs
I’m a speech pathologist working in a pediatric outpatient clinic. I’ve owned these cards for a year and have gotten a lot of use out of these cards for object ID, naming, discussing object functions, categorizing and describing. Honestly I like how comprehensive this is but I definitely don’t use every single card. I’ve also had to laminate the cards I use most frequently because they aren’t suuuper durable given I work with a lot of young children. I also think these would be good if you work with adults since they aren’t cartoony. Overall I really like these and they are very functional for my purposes. I like that they are updated with pictures from this decade :).

I purchased this item for my wife as she is a special education elementary school teacher. Her children are on the Autism Spectrum and the program that she is involved with is called Applied Behavior Analysis. The item was recommended to her by other colleagues as a must have for the classroom and I am proud to say that she is thrilled with it. It's not often that she asks me to go online to buy something as she is a brick and mortar type of shopper, but she knows that I like amazon and this was a slam dunk for her. She basically said just order it and of course was pleased that The Language Builder arrived ahead of schedule. Since she was a happy camper it made me a happy camper as well.

Perfect for American children in the 80's
For the price tag of over £110 you would expect these to be absolutely perfect in every way. The images are very outdated. 80% of the photos look like they were taken in the 70s and the remaining 20% (updated technology) were taken in the 90's/00's. The vehicles, electronics, furniture, sports and all other man made objects are laughable that they are so old. The images also have that strange yellow tint that old 70's/80's pictures have. The images are very Americanised with yellow buses, New York style fire engines, etc that makes it confusing for children. We've sent this item back. Because this is for educational purposes, it looks like they've hiked the price. It definitely looks like it's worth £15-£20 maximum. Even then we would still send this item back.

Shameful cost for a a box of cards. Taking advantage of the parents of Altistic children.
For the parent of an autistic child..and having to buy this for £120. I think the seller has a nerve to sell this box set of cards for that price. My partner brought these on my account. These seem to be US orientated..and I wish the seller all the misfortune that may come from selling these aids at that price. I can see why so many have warned us of the Rio off merchants in the market plaice. Look for alternatives before you buy these.. inky opinion the price tag does not justify the product. In short the seller taking advantage of desperate patents.

old pictures. not the best for low functioning kids. the seller never cares about buyers satisfaction. be aware that if you return it, you lose 20% of the price, and have to pay for shipment!!
