Not as strong as I was hoping, missing a washer
I wanted to drill straight holes through concrete and this item was missing a washer when delivered, and also the fasteners vibrated loose during usage from the hammer drill action.

Does what it is supposed to do
This works how exactly how it should. I'm using it for light duty home projects. The bearings in the slides are pretty rough. I coated the rods with white lithium and plunged it several times to work it into the bearings and then cleaned the rods and it now glides smoothly. I also check the angle between every hole I drill since the only locking mechanism is friction from tightening the screws.

Better Than Hand Drilling, But Not The Drill Press You Dream About
Used to drill straight enough holes through 4x4 Deck posts Would not have been possible to accomplish without this tool. Tool is made from heavy plastic with the stanchions made of steel tubing. The drill chuck rotates on two press fit bearings. The stanchions pivot independently and are fastened to the base with hand-tightened screws. The drill chuck rides the stanchions which can be set at vertical, or any angle needed. Your drill attaches to the devices chuck and you drive the attached drill bit into the material being drilled. Would be a better product if the plastic parts were made of metal but the plastic works, as does the price

Cheap, but mostly okay
I think it deserves 3.5 stars, so I rated it 3 to bring down the listing's 3.7 star average. The holes all had a bunch of flashing that needed to be trimmed before it could be assembled. The depth-stop collar is just a spacer that was threaded radially. The thread cutting process intruded into the collar and had to be filed down to assemble. The molded parts are plastic, but it's glass-filled and should be plenty durable for all the force it doesn't have to resist. It's okay, just very cheaply made and poorly finished. I've purchased other General tools and they were decent quality; however, they failed to maintain that quality here.

I haven't used the tool yet but I've used microstop countersinks for dimpling aluminum. I was initially disapointed that the base was made out of plastic, however for $31 you have to realize you're not getting a finely machine work of art. I am excited to have this multi-use tool for $31 rather than pay $40+ for used countersinks and be stuck with a one-trick poney. I can see that the frame is "trued-up" with two bolts so it's not going to be a precisly squared tool, but if you need to speed up drilling and want your peice somewhat more consistent than winging it, then I'd say give it a whirl. I have a 3x bucking gun for riveting and might use this to dimple holes on my aluminum row boat in the future. Either way, $31 is much better than having to drive down to the hardware store for a new piece of lumber because you miss-drilled. Btw, I saw someone noted the nuts worked loose. You might try the hardware store for knobs instead of the gnarled bolts. I would give 5 stars if the base was metal, all tensioners were knobs, and the legs joints were steel.

Not "precision"
This would not hold its position and would wobble. The guide bars move independently from each other so it was literally twice the work trying to get it aligned to the proper angle.

Looks like metal with stainless chuck in the photo. This thing is made out of plastic. The guide rails are metal and are not smooth. The chuck bracket is plastic and it does not slide well up and down the rails. The base is plastic. The chuck doesn’t spin well even if lube is added as per instructions. 100% do not buy. Go with the Milescraft one.

Not for precision work, would not buy again
This drill guide is not for precision work. It will work for rough drilling where you can be off a few degrees, but do not buy this for fine carpentry or any finish work, you'll be disappointed. The depth stops vibrate loose during use so they are useless. There are other cheaper options that should work as well or better than this product.

Used and Damaged! Weak design and cheap plastic.
Very disappointed. Came clearly used and damaged. Returning for refund. Not surprising it is cracked considering the cheap plastic it is made from. Will be going with another brand.

Very useful drilling holes (up to 2 inches) in wood or plastic at variable set angles.
Handy drill jig for boring holes into wood or plastic at angles up to 45 degrees. My order was used to drill large 2 inch holes into a 4 inch PVC pipe to allow 2 inch diameter pipe stubs to be glued into a 4 inch diameter pvc pipe to construct a hydroponic vertical tree garden.
