A must have for spooling reels!
I used to use a cardboard box with a pencil through it and tension the line by squeezing the box and/or wet cloth holding the line to the rod. It works but is kind of a pain. After respooling a few rods, I decided to try this Penn line winder out. Wow, was it so much easier. It took probably 20% of the time and wasn't as awkward or painful on the arms. I used a 3000yd spool of 50lb braid and a 500 yd spool of 60lb mono. They both fit and worked flawlessly and I really liked how you can set the tension simply by turned the wheel bolt tighter or looser. I was worried it wouldn't stay on my dining table and I would need to clamp it down or something. However, it has rubber feet and a bit of weight to it that allowed it to stay put without moving at all. I'm really impressed! It seems like an item that will hold up for many years. Kind of like a one and done purchase which makes the price worth it over time by far even if the initial investment seems a bit on the high side.

It is good , it gets enough drag for line being tight, wish they had a more stable platform, still gotta be held back, but overall really good.

Best of the best
By far the best one I’ve ever had. Stays where you put it because it’s heavy duty. The adjustable tension works great. It fits all the spools I have from 500-1500 yards.

Worth the money
My only regret is that I didn't buy one years ago. This spooler has a great drag system that keeps perfect tension on the line when loading spools. Also, it will accommodate a wide range of spools from filler spools to extra large bulk spools. This is the spooler to get if your winding braid!

Bought for my husband for Christmas. He has used it several times and he likes it.
It has some wt to it. It makes a high pitch grinding sound after a few minutes that drives my dog crazy. Sound doesn't affect function.

You need this
I received mine today and already re-strung two poles. I used it with 40lb @ 5000yd spool. I used two welding clamps to hold that larger spool in place and did two poles with no issues. I'd imagine that if I used a smaller spool I wouldn't need clamps but certainly didnt hurt using them. This tool handled it all like a champ. Glad I had this and definitely recommend.

Loading up a reel now easier
Over all a good device. Way over priced but does a better job than any other device that I have used. I have only used it with braided line and only with power pro or suffix 832. The smaller spools 150 -600 yds are a bit more work to do. I had to keep adjusting the tension on it to keep the line tight on reel. The best spools i used were the 1200 yd suffix spools. They have a shallow indentation on both sides that fit the tension cones perfectly. Once I set the tension it stayed set. It’s still not fun to load up 400+ yards of line but cheaper than having a store do it to multiple reels. It will also give a good idea of what it’s like to recover a lot of line from that one that didn’t get away. You can probably build something that would work as well but I am not that inclined to do so

Finally, a spooler that works
This is a great product. It is well made and heavy so it does not move around. I currently have a 7,200ft spool on it but this will work with a 300ft spool just the same. The tension nut and drag washers work perfect to put as much or as little tension on the spool as you want. Plus it just simply looks cool sitting on my fishing bench. It's not the cheapest one but it is the best one.

Where has this been all my life
Amazing bit of kit, spool up you favorite reels with taught line making casting a dream and getting the correct amount of line on that your reel is designed for with the aid of a line counter. Setup was super quick and it's portable. Best line spooler ever. 10/10

Not the quality I would expect from Penn
Quality of this product is not what I would expect from Penn, some bolts and insert threads where damaged during the manufacturing. Does not work consistently with all spools, it look a lot of playing around the get the tension up on my unit.
