Help for The Non-Mechanically Inclined ...

We have been raising children (boy's) for 20 years now, and it's been awesome; However it has meant a lot of work, and a lot of sacrifice! Which means Mom & Dad's bedroom upgrades fall pretty far down the list! Lol! We have been looking at wall mounted beside lights to open up some side table space, for convenience, & add a dedicated ceiling fan without losing any lighting. Prices for these are outrageous! From super expensive to affordable all within the same style! Our goal was 2 for under $100. We also have a pretty large cherry wood, and wrought iron headboard, so the light had to have some reach to be useful in lighting up our individual areas for reading ECT without disturbing the other person. The lights also needed to be good looking, and fit in with our modern country style.Our last requirement is that it be a dimmable/ 3-way light. We filled all the requirements with these lights - even though we would have preferred they be touch lights - we are thrilled to have them installed! Which by the way was easy as can be! 5 minutes each tops! A little installation advice for the non DIY'ers - **If you can't differentiate between sounds of hollow drywall, and stud behind the drywall sounds - buy a "stud finder" (hahahaha!!) at someplace like a hardware store for $20, and a cheap "level" for anywhere from $5-20 for a small simple one, and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble plus they come in handy from time to time. Especially with flat tv's, and monitors in this day, & age. Put your assembled light arm (sans shade) up against the wall where you want it, and trace lightly with a pencil. Then once you have just the bracket against the wall you will be able to color in the holes of the bracket that you will need to tap/drill for mounting. Then prior to your drilling the hole in the drywall you can erase the outside box marks. After that it is just a matter of drilling your holes for the screw taps, holding the bracket in place, screwing the screws in, and sliding the lamp onto the mounted brackets. **You may want to practice sliding the lamp onto the bracket before mounting on the wall if you are not a mechanically inclined person. The supplied 18" white lampshade makes our lamps too light for our bedroom, so we will be installing a 400 lumens 3 way bulb next time. We are also going to wrap them in burlap to warm the light up. ***BTW our 3 way works just fine! We bought the suggested size (shape) 3 way bulb in the suggested watts, and played with the bulb (tight, but not over tightened) until we got the feel for it. Now we can properly install the 3 way bulb so it makes the correct contact with the lamp. ***When picking out light bulbs the 2 most important factors you want to look at is - lumens, and whether or not you want warm, or cool. It can be the difference between loving, and hating a lamp! ***We absolutely DO recommend this lamp! P.s. We did have to send the Like New one back for having incomplete parts, and order another. Double check all parts before installing any of them... Just in case! Hope this was helpful!

NICE SWING ARM LAMP, BUT PRETTY DISAPPOINTED

I was So excited to get this lamp, as I really need a reading lamp for over my bed. I was surprised to find how cheap the lampshade is. It is made of a very plain/bland piece if paper, with the seam half pulled apart, I will reinforce the seam myself, as it is Not glued/attached well At All! Also the 3-way light bulb that comes with lamp, doea not fit into this fixture due to the harp (the piece that actually is what the shade attaches to) is too small. Also the harp is bent rendering the shade crooked, which I do not like. I don't like crooked things in my house, especially something brand new that was just put together. Getting back to the included light bulb, (it is a 3-way energy saver light, and the bottom area that screws into the fixture is too big around)... A regular 3-way bulb will fit, just be gentle, because it I a tight fit even for the regular bulb. The harp should've really been made bigger for this lamp, as a bigger harp would have plenty of room to fit inside the shade. Luckily I did buy a 2pack of regular 3-way light bulbs from Amazon, that came the day before my lamp. I will use and keep the lamp, but I am pretty disappointed in it. If I had paid any more for this lamp, it would be going back.for a full refund. Buy at your own risk. Overall the lamp works, but has several defects, that I noted. I will be contacting Amazon regarding this useless 3-way light bulb that came with this lamp, for a credit at least on that bulb, because I know that bulb was factored into the price of the lamp. Nothing is for free. Besides what I said, the lamp serves its purpose, and does come with a cord cover, to hide the cord, so that was a nice touch. I will end up keeping this lamp. At some point I will buy a more appropriate shade for it, but not sure what to do about the harp, that doesn't sit right in socket area, or is actually bent. I think I will see if they will send me a replacement harp, because any shade I put on this lamp will be crooked with this harp, it's not the shade.

Good value & Attractive

I've had this lamp for a couple of months. Excellent quality and looks good. Super easy to install. My only negative comment is that the switch is a little hard to turn off and on. Otherwise, I love it.

Nice Wall Lamp

Only 4 stars because it arrived without the screws and wall plugs. But the parts were well protected in cardboard and installation was simple, mostly because my husband knew what he was doing. Well constructed. Even though the lamp shade is made of cardboard, it is such a beautiful gold color that I'll keep it. (Picture shows tri-light at the second click.)

A bright purchase

A nice lamp, works well and seem sturdy enough. Used proper wall anchors, and disposed of the included ones. Managed to find a stud for 1/2 the mounting screws, so it is very firmly attached.

lovely lamps.

these lamps give very nice lighting. uses 3 way bulb (50-100-150 watts). were easy for my husband to put up & saves lots of room on end tables for other items. very slight difference in shade colour between the 2 but really is not significent. great price & would definitely recommend them.

The lamps are fine ..not the highest quality but certainly adequate . After all the work installing , as I put the lamp shade on second lamp, there is a big smear of ?blood ? lipstick ? ketchup? who knows? Kind of disgusting looking. I would like a replacement matching lamp shade please.
