Great lamp for independent lighting. Sturdy.

When I first saw someone use a lamp for independent use -- the day/night bulb mixture -- I felt I should get one eventually since I liked that, but only ever used a small (single bulb lamp) for evenings. With the days getting shorter now, I finally searched and found this one. Took a while, but I finally chose this for a few reasons: - The darker color is very preferable to me compared to the common, shiny silver/gold ones I kept seeing frequently. I didn't want something that bright. I feel this lamp was somewhat buried under search results because of that. - The obvious independent lighting option for two different lights for night/day use. - Good desk lamp size at 30". The overall style and construction of the lamp is good. The only issue I had was screwing in the top portion that holds the shade. It may have just been the piece I got, but it had paint over the part that would screw in to the upper part of the base. This would basically cause the paint to come off as I'd screw it in, jam things up, and I'd have to unscrew, redo a bit more than before, then do that again. Took maybe 5 tries like that before it was good enough to go down to the base all the way. Not an issue now. It's very sturdy (including the base as well). The actual lighting is great with the lamp shade. I realized quickly though that the LED bulb in my smaller lamp that I first used (rated at 480 lumens) appeared much too dim with the new shade after I had also moved the lamps location. Instead, I bought a warm LED bulb rated at 1100 lumens, and it was perfect! I can use the smaller bulb elsewhere. A random plus is the "feel" of the chains when turning either bulb on/off. When it does the initial "click", it's very smooth both when pulling down and letting go of the chain. Lots of packaging. It may temporarily snow styrofoam bits in your room. ;) The bottom has a separate cardboard piece taped on that needs to first be removed BEFORE the base can be taken out of the styrofoam (to avoid a mess). It is best to lift it all out instead of thinking the base will just pop right out of the styrofoam with the cable on there. Works great overall. For those who want independent lighting, its color for darker accessories, but also want to avoid a tall floor lamp like myself, I recommend this as an option.

Great customer service

This lamp was very easy to put together. However after putting new bulbs into both sockets, only 1 worked. I called Kenroy Home customer service and they immediately shipped a new lamp. I did not have to return the first lamp. I got the second lamp within 4 days. I put it together and placed new bulbs in both sockets and neither LED bulb lit up. I then tried 2 different LED bulbs and the both bulbs lit up. I then put a different LED bulb into the first lamp I received and it works. Still not sure why some bulbs work and others did not but if you run into the same problem try putting in different bulbs. I really like the look of this lamp and loved 2 bulbs for reading.

Love it!

I bought this for two reasons: (1) I have its "twin" as a table lamp in my living room and like it, and (2) I wanted pull chains on the floor lamp as is on the table lamp.. It's really pretty in person. The pull chains work well and are easy to use, especially compared to switches which often don't respond well or seem to hide behind the lamp shade. A couple of people said it was difficult to put together. Honestly, it took me longer to take it (carefully) out of the box. It was packed very well, which I appreciate because there was no chance of something being broken. In all seriousness, it took me maybe 5 minutes to assemble. The only difficulty I had was screwing in the piece closest to the bottom stand. It had to be exactly centered to be screwed on -- no wiggle room there -- and once I set it correctly, it went on fine. One suggestion is to make the shade a bit longer so that if I glance up at the lamp while reading, the light bulbs don't shine in my eyes, but then, maybe if the shade was longer, it wouldn't give the light I need to read by. Even with this suggestion, I still give it 5 stars across the board.

position of bulbs is bad

High quality lamp, but the bulbs are located at the BOTTOM of the shade. So if you are sitting in a chair beside the lamp on a table, the bare bulbs are shining directly in your eyes. I tried to buy another shade with more coverage, but as of yet I haven't found one in stores or online of an appropriate size. I also mistakenly thought that the two bulbs could provide reading light for two chairs, one on either side of a table. But actually the bulbs provide dim/brighter total light, from one source, NOT on either side separately. I would not buy this lamp again.

Love this lamp

The lamp is sturdy, easy to assemble and is perfect lighting for a reading chair. The included lampshade is very nice quality, but for our room was too white. We switched it up for a darker linen shade.

This is a great product; I bought 2.

This product is well built, easy to assemble (it comes in pieces in a big cardboard box) and excellent value for money. There's a minor design defect. The top tube is a push fit in the collar that joins the top and bottom tubes. This has to be adjusted by hand, otherwise there's a slightly wonky bend in the middle. The manufacturer could cure this by cutting a male thread in the top tube, matching a female thread in the collar. Then it would be perfect.

Highly Recommended

On the whole, I am very pleased with this lamp. I am useless at assembling anything but this lamp had very clear instructions and I was able to put it together in no time. The only other point I would make is that the lamp arrived with a small dent in the base making it very slightly unsteady if it is bumped. Otherwise I am delighted.
