So glad to find one of these!
I bought an older house with this outlet in the kitchen but it was old and needed replacing. It's for a hanging clock that plugs in and I couldn't find a similar outlet at any local store so I'm glad to find one here. Most people have battery operated clocks nowadays but I couldn't imagine patching up this cool old feature. Plus, it has the hook on it so even if you only have a battery operated clock you can still hang it in front of the outlet.

Great Product, Great Price, Easy to Install
Perfect solution at a great price when you need a recessed receptacle so that your plug is not excessively exposed. Very easy to install. Excellent placement for the wiring screw-downs that are on the back sides (hot and neutral) and top (ground) of the receptacle. The backside of the receptacle (wiring block) is also nice due to it reduced size leaving extra room to tuck away the wiring. Comes with two long (1" plus in length) mounting screws just in case your receptacle box has an abnormal setback (more than 1/2" or 5/8"). Otherwise, you can use shorter screws if you have a extras in your spare screw jar. The Clocked Hanger Hook is a nice feature. I used my Prime account with the free 2-day delivery. Amazon rocks as the product was actually delivered the "next" day (ordered on Friday and it was delivered on Saturday).

The hook is permanent
The reason I can't give a 5-star rating is because I believe it can be improved if only that little hook could be removed. Unfortunately, it cannot. I had to order this to learn that, because the item description didn't specify. Now I'm returning it for another one without the hook. So if you don't plan on covering up this receptacle (with a clock or illuminated wall hanging as it was designed to be used), then find the other single recessed receptacle without the hook. Amazon does sell it (as of this writing). I understand this was designed for the hook to be used, but a design where the hook can be removed, would be even better, in my opinion.

Works but don't need the hook
This is the type of socket recommended by Broan for their European style chimney hood. It gives you a little more room for the ductwork inside the chimney by recessing the large plug into the wall. I don't like that there is a hook permanently built into this... it's not needed and there is no option to remove or buy a version without a hook.
