Great shorts!

Love them--theyre comfortable (but I think polycotton ripstop is comfortable, so, ymmv). I got them after having some surplus ones that were a bit thinner, same size range--so small, at least, fits the same in both. I don't pull them up all the way, and it's not a concern I have to deal with, they don't have a gusset, if that's important to you.

Perfect buy

Use these for fire department uniform pants, have bought several and will continue to buy them

35 inch waist = size medium

Lack of an official size chart makes ordering these shorts really difficult. I have a 35 inch waist (muscular build). Since these brands normally only have even sizes, I usually buy size 36 from Propper or size 34 from TruSpec or 5.11. Apparently, Propper is cutting costs on these BDU shorts and only offering size small-medium-large and there are big gaps between those sizes. Some reviews here recommended size large for waist size, so I bought that and it was several inches too big (in the waist, in the butt, and in the legs). Returned it for size medium and that fits pretty well. I even had some room to shrink the waist a little using the pull tabs. Regarding quality, these shorts are much cheaper than other Propper pants. While the fabric is similar to other Propper pants (stiff and sturdy), the construction appears to be simpler with a more boxy cut. If you're used to other Propper pants, these will fit a little differently and are a little less comfortable to me. For the $23 price, I think they are a decent value. Other Propper cargo shorts are $30 and up.

Great!

These shorts are almost like the BDU pants. I’m disappointed they don’t have button fly but they fit good and move good. The small however, is tighter than the small BDU pants. I see the sizing thing they ask me, ignore that, it never works for me, I’m tall and small (narrow frame). I have a 29-30 waist and it fits perfect without a belt. And they fit jacked legs, despite the small size I need to fit my waist.

Excellent quality and design

The BDU shorts arrived earlier than expected and in a sealed plastic bag inside the Amazon box. The pair of shorts were exactly as described. The materials are strong, with good stitching and the design is above standard. I used to have a pair of olive drab BDU shorts by another manufacturer, but the button fly was not very convenient when you need to go in a hurry. So, the zipper fly is definitely better. Some one commented that the fabric is rough. Noting that comment, I soaked the shorts in boiling hot water twice and then put it in the washer and dryer for a regular cycle, That softened the fabric significantly. I highly recommend doing it. Also, when I soaked the shorts in hot water, I noticed the water turning brown. So, don't wash it with other clothes for the first time. I did not notice any color coming off when I wash it for the second time. I wear the shorts with a thick nylon belt and do not find the waist tabs a problem. The loops will accommodate riggers belts and pistol belts. The length of the legs is just slightly longer than my taste and I roll them up when I wear it. For someone who is taller than 6 feet, they should be perfect. They got me through a multi-day hiking trip and is still in brand-new-like condition.

I love BDUs, thats all i wear for work

I love BDUs , thats all i wear for work. In fact they basically replaced Blue Jeans for me. They are hard wearing, reinforced in critical areas, big pockets and inexpensive compared to Blue Jeans. Naturally when looking for shorts I took a look at these. I love Propper gear as I own a lot of their BDUs. When they designed these Shorts they designed them AS SHORTS . I was expecting cut down BDUs .There was no reinforced seat (really don't need them but would be nice) and a zipper but I like button fly .The Cargo pockets are also 1" shorter than the standard pocket. Not that I would carry a full size MRE in it but I noticed it right off. There is nothing wrong with the above modification and will suit the average guy well. They are well made and should not deter you from buying them. I was expecting them to be a bit more heartier hence the 4 stars. All in all it should suit you well as they were designed as lightweight Shorts not hard wearing BDUs.

Good firm quality, perhaps a little bit stiff, hence 4 stars. But good quality and not at all flimsy

nice hardwearing work shorts

Decent hardwearing work shorts at a nice price. Mediums are a good fit for around 33 waist. Length may be an issue for tall people but at 5'7 works well for me. Not too baggy, maybe more of a fit cut.
