НИКОР Освещение Светодиодный прожектор с фотоэлементом белого цвета (STP-10-120-WH-PC) Белая вертикальная пластина с фотоэлементом

Brand:NICOR Lighting

3.1/5

63.92

They work well, but...
Unlike some of the other reviews, it seems my wall boxes were deep enough, no no problems there. A couple engineering flaws though. First, the louvered face plate is narrower than a standard outlet faceplate by 1/4" so they don't completely cover the hole and a rim of light can be seen on one or more sides. After installation I had to apply a little drywall joint compound whith a blade. If you don't have matching touch up paint for your wall you better not buy these. Second problem is the screws they supply for the face plate are too short — they don't reach the threads. Save the faceplate screws from your original outlet, they are just long enough. Fortunately my outlet screws were white to match the new white faceplate. God help the buyer who orders the bronze finish! It's hard to find louvered vertical step lights that have a photosensor, and in that respect, I'm happy to have these flush mount units. However a little better engineering would save the user a lot of work.

Works well, leaks around the edge
Worked really well on my stairs, maybe a little bright but better too bright than too dim. Only real complaint is they should include some kind of gasket around the rim, there was a lot of light leaking around the case. We caulked it which solved the problem, a foam gasket would have been better.

Not right for every application
I am sure these will work but they really are not appropriate for my job without work. So I will offer some suggestions for others. First of all you need a really deep box and the box needs to be back in the wall some or the cover will never fit flush with the wall. Second, you will likely need larger wire nuts. My installation was in an "old work" plastic box hung in the middle of existing sheetrock rather than boxes attached to a vertical stud. Those boxes have thin tabs that hold the box on the outside of the wall while screws tighten a holder on the back side of the wall. These lights are really designed for outdoor applications so there is a rubber gasket that sits between the back body of the switch and the pretty heavy front mounting plate for the light. So the first thing I had to do is cut that gasket out because it would have made my finish faceplate stick out another 3/16" from the wall because the gasket would not slip inside the box. On my installation though just cutting off the gasket still doesn't solve the finish plate issue because the thick metal mounting plate keeps the switch between 1/8th and 3/16" too far from the wall. If I had the correct size box mounted on a stud that was 3/16" inch or more back from the face of the wall then I could have chipped away plaster or sheetrock so the switch mounts would be closer to the wall. A related problem is that a rubber cube with a hole in the middle is glued to the back of the face plate, probably to shield the light switch from light leaking in from the fixture and turning it off. In my case I had to pull the off because it too kept the face plate from tightening up tight to the mounting plate because the hole in the middle was too small to fit over the light switch and too thick. I peal it off but I may need to trim and reinstall if the light turns on then off again due to light reaching the solar switch. Finally, the wire nuts that come with the unit were fine for the last fixture in the circuit but too small where I needed to install earlier ones where I needed to join 2 14ga wires from romex to one wire from the fixture. I had to end up using 12gs wire nuts.

Not for interior use
These were easy to install and worked well, but are too bright for interior applications. I bought them for stair lights, but they're so bright they were shining in my face while sitting 20-30 feet away in the basement. They would be perfect if they had a dimmer setting built in. So, if you're looking for exterior lights, I highly recommend these. If you're looking for dim interior night lights, these won't work for you.

Use yellow wire connectors
I read a lot of complaints that these lights did not work when installed. On the first light I installed I could not get the wires to connect onto my house 12ga stranded wire until I changed to yellow wire connectors. Once I got good connection the lights worked great. They have worked perfectly the last 2 weeks. I will buy again.

Easy install and great look
We install these and think they look great. Only complaints are that the screws don't allow you to tighten against the wall and you will need to caulk around the cover plate. If not, you will have light appearing around the cover plate.

Too Bright
Unlike other reviewers, I had no problem installing these on my staircase. They fit fine and the vertical covers work fine. I have two issues with these. First, the light is too bright. Sounds funny, but I wanted a nice causal light showing where the stairs were, which is what the last ones I had did. I have six of these lights spread out over 15 steps and there is as much light as a regular hanging fixture. The second issue is the photocell does not work. Not sure what its purpose is, but it does not switch the lights off when the main stairway light is on. I had an electrician look at it and he couldn't figure it out either.

Light sensor and cover plate seal less then desired
The way the light sensor is covered by the face plate hides to much light from getting in to the sensor so it turns on when there's still a fair amount of light. And the face plate doesn't seal very well to the wall so when it is dark you see a lot of light leaking out around the edges of the face plate. You can probably create solutions for both issues but wasn't pleased to have to solve these problems.
