Most Unimpressed With Controller
Due to physical issues, I've had and been using heating blankets nightly an all Season long for over two decades now. This heating blanket has been the most expensive but is my LEAST favorite one so far. It feels like it's more of a warming blanket than a heating blanket. The controller doesn't seem like it even goes with this blanket because it won't allow the heat to be set above 12 (as the highest heat setting) but when turned on, it shows the highest heat setting being18 before it automatically jumps down to heat setting 6 for 8 hours (even though you can manually reset it between 1-12 hours each time then too). If you don't want it set at 6 (which I never do), you have to manually reset it each use. It is the only one that I've ever owned that the heat & time has to be reset every time and also the only one that the controller doesn't stay lit to know if it is on. If you want to adjust it or turn it off through the night, expect to have to turn a light on to see the controller. Although it is softer than others, it doesn't really matter because I always use one over the top of a sheet and under a light comforter to keep it clean longer because unfortunately, they are not meant to be washed weekly like I would prefer with all of my bedding. It is the only one that has ever shed a lot of lint just laying over the bed sheet too. I have not washed it yet but feels heavier than any other I've owned, so it does concern me to whether it is going to be more of a pain to basically 'air dry' after washing on a cold & gently wash cycle when I do --and hopefully not clogging up my machine with a bunch of lint! At the same time and for good measure in being sure I have a 'back up' these days, I purchased a 2nd off-brand one from another company for exactly half the price that has exceeded all expections than this Sunbeam already. I've even washed it with no problems. The only thing that this Sunbeam electric blanket has going for it to me is a 5 year warranty even IF to have purchased through Amazon (unlike I've discovered with Beautyrest to NOT have honored by simply doing so) --so time will tell.

Works and is comfortable; takes a long time to heat up
Comfortable and warm, this has really improved my sleeping, but it's too easy to set it too high, because it takes a long time to heat up, so you might be fooled into thinking you don't have it set high enough, tempting you to use a higher setting than you really want. I wish there were some sort of actual temperature scale rather than just the settings 1-12, so you had some idea what the setting meant, but trial and error is standard practice for electric blankets. Eventually you'll figure out that "3" or "4" (or whatever) is your favorite setting. The safety instructions are pretty explicit about not tucking in any part of the blanket that has heating elements and not running the power cord under the mattress or between the mattress and the bed frame. But the cord plugs into the blanket right in the middle of one of the short sides (I have the twin size), meaning that the plug is meant to attach near the foot of the bed -- otherwise it would be right by your face. Fortunately, the control box is still reachable to someone under the blanket, because they've allowed ample length for the cord to reach from the controls to the blanket while remaining outside the bed frame. The controls consist of a power on-off switch, up and down buttons for the heat setting, and up and down buttons for the shutoff time setting. There's an LCD display with a backlight that's pretty bright at night, but it automatically turns the light off after a minute or so of not pressing any buttons. Kudos to Sunbeam for having both up and down buttons; some controls I've seen have only an up button that makes you cycle back around through all the settings if you miss the one you want. The blanket's material itself is rather light and quite soft. They're not going to use a thick, heavy material that inhibits heat transfer, because that defeats the purpose of an electric blanket, but they're not going to wrap the heating elements in tinfoil either. I think Sunbeam's chosen a happy medium here: a light, soft fabric. You can feel the heating elements, as you can with any electric blanket. You probably won't want to use it by itself; you'll probably want another blanket or at least a sheet.

The blanket is very thin, and the wires easily felt, but we use it over a top sheet, so it helps. But the heat is very mild--if you are very cold, you need to use a relatively high setting. I like the preheat better than the regular heat settings, but it only lasts about 1 hour. Once the bed is warmed up, the lower settings are usually enough to keep me warm. Avoid folding or tucking because if the wires are bent or stretched, you could get the blinking light that indicates that the blanket isn't working. I'd like to find a new electric blanket that is actually a thicker blanket.

SOOO warm and cuddly!
I'm still using this even in May! It warms up quickly and actually stays warm! It's super soft but peels easily, is the only downside. But I'm so glad I bought it!

Works well
Works well due to a controller that offers different levels and durations. Most parts heat well but a few areas don’t which is typical. I was expecting a plush blanket, but this is closer to microfiber. I really didn’t like the material at first. My kids saw it and decided it was their favorite blanket and convinced me it was a keeper.

Very nice blanket!
Nice blanket, very soft. I think it's a little thin but it beats up so it doesn't really matter. Nice and toasty warm I like it. The preheat setting is wonderful, gets the bed nice and warm before you get in!!

Nice blanket and I love the colour
It doesn't work properly with my Smart Plug; emailed the manufacturer to find out why but they did not respond. I bought this anticipating climbing into a warm bed using my Alexa but instead, I have to make an extra trip. I like the PreHeat function, and the colour is great. Blanket is thin (not thick) but soft and keeps me warm.
