Best early walking shoes

My daughter was a January baby who was determined to walk. By 9 months, we needed to get her shoes so she could walk outside. The Pediped Originals (this is her second pair and she is now 15 months) have been great. Unlike her other shoes (Robeez, Jack & Lily, Kai See Run, assorted no names) these are really easy for her to walk in. She doesn't trip and fall (as much) and at this point, she can run in these shoes almost as easily as she can in bare feet. Sizing: They are designed to be kind of floppy and big. She is small for her age and didn't move into the 12-18 month size until 14 months, but because of the design of shoe she doesn't roll her foot as much as she does in other shoes. Instead, her foot has room to spread out as she places weight on it and then curl back up as she picks her foot up. Also, they are light-weight so it's easier for her to balance. Because they are expensive and sizing can be tough, I'd recommend either going to a brick and mortar store or getting two sizes with the plan that either your child can grow into the other size, or that you can return them. Style: I recommend the Mary Jane style because it is easy to get on and off. (With our son, we were able to keep him barefoot until about 15 months at which point his big feet didn't fit into any of the leather bottom shoes. He went straight to rubber soles.) I went for brown because it matches just about everything and these shoes are expensive.

Great brand, but this particular model is disappointing

In general, I love Pediped shoes. My daughter has lots of them, and they're all great quality. But this particular one - the brown with large dots - was very disappointing, because the strap with the velcro is way too short! All of our other shoes have velcro straps as well, but they're all properly sized. This one is so short that it doesn't reach around the ankle to connect with the other part of the velcro. So it keeps coming undone and the shoe slips off. My 2-year-old loves putting her shoes on and off by herself, but gets really frustrated when this one keeps coming off. I'm very frustrated myself, because they aren't cheap!

the perfect shoe!

My daughter will wear these all day without a problem. Any other shoe or sock she will rip off in an instant.... I don't quite understand it but she seams to really love these. Amazing quality, the inside has a soft "memory foam" type feel. The velcro is very strong. They don't slip off feet at all. They are flexible and have a good sole that will not wear down. The stitching is strong and solid The design is so cute. My daughter is 12 months and wears a 12 to 18 months size with enough wiggle room to grow. The shoe thing was a big deal to me, I am a mom. If you are looking for a great 1st time shoe I highly suggest that you try these.

Great brand for baby shoes! Worth every penny

My baby's feet are very, very cute, but they are not thin, finding shoes that are comfortable for her to walk (shes been walking n running since 10 month old) have prove very difficult, they would all be either too big or tooooo tight at the top. I bought her a pair of pediped at babiesrus, they hardly have sizes or models and this is not a cheap brand for baby shoes that last about three months or so, so i was very happy to find them here! They are worth every penny, she walks with them all day, they are supper comfortable and look super cute with a lot of her outfits! Only problem is: Don't get them wet!!! They smell very bad after been wet just once, we had to use feet powder from the pharmacy after just so her feet would not smell bad after using them!

Pediped never disappoints.

I bought these shoes for my second daughter, as her first pair of shoes. I love the soft, flexible leather. It helps protect her feet while still giving her feet a natural range of motion. The polka dots on the shoes gives a nice pop of color. I thought these shoes would be good for both dress and play, but once I received them, I realized they were a little bit too playful to be for dress shoes as well. I bought pedipeds for my firstborn's first shoes as well, and I will always buy them. The quality is outstanding. The only thing is, the leather on the bottom of the soles is a little slippery at first. You must break them in (much like expensive high heels) by lightly sanding the bottom.

Perfect for 1st shoes!

These shoes are so AMAZING! My daughter is 14 months old and walking but still unsure of herself so she hold on to pretty much everything.... I put these shoes on her and she enjoyed watching her feet walk in them. After a week of wearing them, she's now walking on her own without holding on! We do have hardwood floors and she does well on them with these shoes. They are made very well and have just enough cushion for little's ones still developing feet. I recommend downloading the app (PediPed) for sizing help before ordering--- we ordered 12-18 months size and it was a little larger, but she'll grow into them. Will purchase again when it's time. PERFECT shoe!

Watch sizing

I am overall impressed with the quality of the shoe. I printed out the size chart and even went up an entire shoe size and when I got them in the mail, it seemed that I would only get a few weeks out of the shoe, when I thought they might be too big. They are adorable shoes and are very secure on her foot. I would definitely purchase from pediped again.
