Solid design and very sturdy, but be sure to inspect very closely before the first use.

Be sure to inspect and test this roller on top of a white piece of paper before using to produce food. We found small brass shavings/flakes on parchment paper when we used this rolling pin on our pizza dough. I think these were left over from the manufacturing process. I disassembled the roller and inspected it. Then rinsed the bearings and inside the roller thoroughly with hot water. Then lubricated the brass bearings with cooking oil and reassembled. We have not had seen any more of the brass shavings.
