Great customer service, but replacement pre-filters suck
Bought the air purifier about a year ago, summer 2020. I use it primarily aboard ships at sea, where I work - very industrial environment. I also use it when on long-term stays in hotels. Original pre-filters were great - excellent job cleaning the air and removing odors. At first, because the pandemic made it hard to get replacement filter sets, I washed out the pre-filter and kept using it. It eliminated odors and, because it was very dense, trapped most of the dust. The excellent original pre-filter extended the life of the HEPA filter. Sadly, when filter sets came back in stock, they were twice the price. I bought one since mine was well due for replacement, only to find the new pre-filters were porous and useless. They do not stop odors and do not trap dust. Because of this, the HEPA filter only lasted about 6 weeks, compared to 6+ months for the first HEPA filter, with the original pre-filter. Customer service was very responsive and sent me a new filter set free of charge. However, it had the same quality issue with the pre-filters. Customer service insisted the pre-filters were "charcoal to stop odors" and the same level of filtration as before. This is obviously not the case. The HEPA filter is still the same high quality as the first set. But, because the pre-filters are so terrible, I now have to replace the HEPA filter every couple of months instead of once or twice a year. Also, these pre-filters have no odor neutralization. My intention is to look for a replacement charcoal foam that I can cut into size to use as a good pre-filter, so these HEPA filters will go back to lasting 6-8 months.

I've had my little air purifier for a long time now and I ran just finally out of replacement filters (I ordered a bunch of extras when I first ordered it a few years ago). For a while people kept commenting on the purifier's listing that you could no longer get the replacement filters but that isn't the case. Obviously you know, as you're reading this review on the filter's page haha. This set comes with both the pre filter (which I usually rinse out like once a week because of cat hair) and the main hepa one. They fit perfectly and it means I don't need to go buy a new/different purifier.

Good price, good product
The air quality is noticeably better after replacing an old filter. I haven't experienced the same quality decrease or noise increase that others have mentioned. I also feel that the thinner, more shear carbon filters may be on purpose. Mine still get just as gross as the thicker carbon filters, which tells me that they're working and possibly that they're allowing more particles to reach the HEPA filter rather than accumulating on the carbon filter sheet and becoming so clogged that the HEPA filter doesn't do optimal work. Whatever the case, I've been using these replacement HEPA and carbon filters for a couple of months, and haven't had any issues.

Best Air Purifier, Ever!
I now own five Levoit air purifiers. I'm so glad to have discovered this brand. The two smaller units are in each of two smaller bedrooms; the two medium sized units are each in the dining room and family room; and the large unit is in the living room. I have a cat and a dog, and problems with cooking odors and cigarette smoke from outside neighborhood smoke. I'm happy to report the Levoits do the job! All problems are well under control by these air purifiers. Yes, the units are pricey, and so are the filter replacements. But when something does such a good job, I believe it deserves an unqualified 5 star rating.

Great Air Purifier skimpy Charcoal Pre-Filter in 2021
I love these air purifiers for our bedrooms. It’s wildfire season aka Summer in the PNW. I purchased these last year and they really help along with our large honeywell air purifier hpa300 in our main living area. These run quiet on level 1 and sound like a fan on low speed on level 2. If the air quality is hazardous we run them on level 3. The filter lasts a long time which is a bonus. My only complaint is the charcoal pre-filters that came with the 2021 replacement filters are very see through compared to the denser charcoal filters that came with my 2020 order. I don’t think it will trap as much dust and smells.

This is great even for a smoker to clean the air.
I wanted something to clean the air of any cigarette smoke in combination with my electric smoking ashtray. The combination of the two items together and what the smoke-eating ashtray doesn't get this does. I'm very please it works great.
