Wiring is NOT standard trailer color code
Really happy with the design.... works well and feels heavy duty. Just know that color codes DO NOT correspond with standard trailer wiring. Usually White is Ground, Brown is Running Lights, Yellow is Left Turn Indicator, Green is Right Turn Indicator, Blue is Trailer Brakes, Red is Aux + 12v, & Purple is Reverse Lights........ Well, not on this plug. Aside from that, it's great

Great cord with nonstandard wire colors
I love having this coiled wiring plug on my trailer. The trailer gets towed with several different vehicles which have their plugs various distances away from the hitch ball. It's so nice to be able to reach the plug wherever it is without worrying about the cord dragging or having to wrap it around something when I don't need that much length. Wiring it up was easy, although the wire colors don't match the standard that you see most places, so you need to use a multimeter to check which wire goes to which blade on the plug. I docked a star for that. The cord is quite stiff when it's brand new, but the coil gets more flexible over time. Still, you'd have to pull really stinkin' hard to get it stretch a full six feet, and it may not stay plugged in under that much tension. Three years after install, it's still working great, so I just bought another one for a horse trailer that I need to rewire. Some people wonder about the coiled length of the plug, so thanks to etrailer, here are the numbers. The straight end with the plug is 10" long. The straight end with the wire pigtails is 7" (including the loose wires). The coiled portion is 10" when it's compacted together. So, 27" total. Bargman makes coiled cords of various lengths from 6' to 12', and only the length of the coiled portion varies among them. A little algebra tells me that the 8' cord has a 13" coiled portion (30" total), the 10' cord has a 16" coiled portion (33" total), and the 12' cord has a 20" coiled portion (37" total).

Check Your Specific Wiring Diagram
The media could not be loaded. I simply bought this to hook up some LED Reverse lights on my hitch and discovered I was using the wrong 7-way wiring schematic. Didn't realize there were several different wiring schematics for 7-way plugs but after further researching I found the correct one for my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 factory installed 7-way plug. As for the product itself, it is very stiff and does not expand out very easily but it works for my particular needs. Overall I like the product. The fact that I could hook up reverse lights directly from my 7-way trailer hitch plug instead if running an entire wiring harness made this install much easier to complete.

Wiring/color code is industry standard
This connector is well built and has a molded plug. This was important to me because I wanted to get away from wire ends working their way free from the screw clamps (many plugs don’t provide enough internal space for spade terminal ends). One might argue that the coil is stiff. I would suggest that careful measurement is important. If 6’ is too stiff, it probably means that a longer cord is in order. As for the notion of “non standard” wire color coding; this connector is wired consistent with the RV standard commonly used by the vast majority of passenger cars and trucks that are equipped for towing. There is another “RV standard” that is designed for larger trucks but it is easy to identify as it has an orange ???? wire. This one does not have an orange wire so if you have a passenger car, van, SUV or pickup truck, you should be OK with this connector. It does what it is designed to do and is well built. Can’t ask for much more.

This connector is extremally heavy duty
I returned this connector because it was way to stiff to flex the coils not very flex able at all

Non-standard color code
Plug and wire seems to be good quality. However, it does not use a standard color pin out.

Non-standard colors.
I love this product but just be aware that the colors are not standard
