This is maybe a little expensive for what it is, but StarTech's a very no-nonsense company, so there's a high confidence factor that anything they sell is gonna be rock-solid, and this is no exception. It's extremely niche, however. In most cases, you can just use an outlet expander or power bar. In my case, though... -I had three things to plug into two outlets: a power bar, a powerline adapter, and a wall wart for a router, all of which obstruct the outlet either above of below them, depending on orientation. -Neither of the latter two can be plugged into the power bar, since that's what's powering my AV setup, and I shut it off when I'm not using it. -A conventional two-to-six or similar outlet expander is off the table because you really don't wanna daisy-chain anything that expands a single outlet into multiple for safety reasons - they're almost never designed to handle high power on each individual outlet. -Even a less conventional one-to-three expander is a no-go, because those are liable to interfere with the signal from a powerline adapter. And that left me here. The powerline adapter works just fine on both the pass-through and the pigtail (I have it on the pass-through, since it's a little cleaner that way, and I think it can handle the weight better), and both the pigtail lead and the powerline adapter clear the bottom-exit power bar plug below it, so everything plugs in nicely. Retention is good - there is a tiny amount of droop with everything plugged in, but that's my outlet's fault, not the splitter's. The wall wart on the pigtail is just dangling upside-down on the side, but there's no chance it would fall out. Looks a little wonky, but if it works, it ain't stupid! I imagine this would also be handy if you need a bottom-exit splitter, but have "inverted" (technically right-side-up, I know) outlets, with the ground pin topside.
