Super bright
For as often as I use the flashlight, I probably should have purchased a less expensive non-rechargeable. I’m pretty sure the rechargeable batteries are why this flashlight costs close to $100. It is very well-made and it is able to function three ways. However, I don’t know why it requires 10 button pushes to switch from one function to the other. I think three or five would’ve done fine.

Excellent dependable flash light.
Originally had an older stream light pro tac model that worked great and also have a stream light TLR-1 for pistol as well. Have to say yes the it's a bit pricey for a flashlight but you will not be disappointed . Very well built and has a solid sturdy feeling in your hand unlike other much cheaper flash lights that don't seem to stand up to the abuse the Protac HL 5 X has. Many customizable settings and the lumens of the light is just plane ridiculous , but in a good way . If your looking for a flash light that will still be durable and last for years to come I highly recommend this flashlight or all of Streamlight products never disappoint . Excellent flash light for LEO's/public safety .

This thing is a BEAST!
Don't even hesitate for a second to hit "Buy Now." Total beast of a flashlight. I seem to have caught the flashlight bug! I have now tried and returned about 10 now. Disappointed in every one of them for their false claims of brightness and run times. The Streamlight ProTac HL 5 - X is INCREDIBLY bright and is just the right combo of throw and spill. It is made out of bomb-proof materials (I really like the rubber sheath it is wrapped in) on my cold nightly hikes. It could be used for defense as well as it is a bit heavy on the optics end. The ONE drawback of the entire flashlight is that there is no program (there are only 3) that puts the strobe at one click. It would seem like a logical first option for blinding an attacker. However, having HIGH as the one-click setting is probably just as effective. No one could see after getting hit with that! It is a bit cumbersome (size and weight) compared to some of the other tactical lights out there but it "SHINES" above them all! EDIT: Its been nearly 2 months since I got this flashlight. I have since purchased several smaller and presumably better lights but this one truly stands apart as the best in all areas........except it is still big and a bit awkward to fix on my pack to light the trail.

Very durable flashlight
This flashlight works as described. The light comes with 2 special batteries. Upon opening the package you can use the batteries or I would recommend charging the batteries before first use. I used an 8 cell battery made by Streamlight and it took about 5 hours to charge up the batteries all the way. The only thing I had a problem with was getting the flashlight into modes. I finally realized NOT to follow the instructions and do this - For the 3500 lumen mode press the power button one time. For the strobe setting quickly tap and then press on the power switch and it will lock on strobe.To put on 1000 lumen light, tap 2 times quickly and then the third time hold the power button. I have two other smaller Streamlights I've had for 30 years that still work and with the lifetime warranty you can's go wrong!

Amazing light. Beam is not focused so it lights up large areas but is crazy-bright. Not super useful inside as it’s too bright and has to be turned to low power, but great for outside.

The flashlight I've wanted for 40 years
I've been... a little weird about flashlights for my whole life. Which is a while, at this point. (1973) That entire time, there's been a perfect flashlight in my head. It's about the size of two D-cell batteries end-to-end, it feels good in my hand, and when I turn it on it's like my own personal sun. I've owned zillions of flashlights, and enjoyed many of them. If you're wired the right kind of weird, flashlights are fun. Some more than others. But I've never had one that felt perfect. Like it was that imaginary, impossible flashlight. But this one does. It's perfect. It's not precisely two D-cells size, but it may as well be. It feels great in my hand. And when I turn it on, it's like my own personal sun. I'm sure there are brighter flashlights out there, but they'll come with all kinds of caveats. They'll be huge. Or they'll run for 3 minutes. Or they'll have some bizarre light pattern. There'll be *something* wrong, there always is. Often multiple things. But not here. There's not a danged thing wrong with this flashlight. At all. Streamlight, you nailed it.

Great Customer Service: 5 Stars
Product quit working short to a year after I purchased it in 2009. Threw it in the drawer as I have other spare ones and forgot about it. Found it again in my spares drawer after a year, emailed their customer service. They said send it back. Forgot about it again until my spare non Streamlight died. Called Customer Service again and told me to send it. I got it back an hour ago. Surprise! It is brand spanking new. They replaced the defective one. P. S. I bought the unit with the rechargeable batteries and I have not used any other batteries other than the one it came with.

Turn night into day!
Genuine Streamlight. Comes with 2 micro USB rechargeable upgraded batteries and dual USB charger to charge both at once. Recommend getting the charger for the batteries separately. 3500 lumens! This is a large light about as big around as D batteries and 10 inches tall. easily can be used as a spotlight. Very good quality as expected.
