Description of the base is not accurate.
In the description of the item on Amazon, it said that all three ways of adhering it to a surface were included, magnetic, clamp and the third way, when actually, only the clamp was included.

Good Lamp, and, Probably, Acceptable Compromise for My Application
Moffatt 95031 Task Lamp. This lamp, I believe, is intended for industrial applications. I do not have any machinery, metal-working or wood-working. I have a desk on which a computer keyboard is standing. On the right side of that desk, I have a good lamp with a halogen bulb, 50 watts. This lamp illuminates practically all the keyboard. To the left of the keyboard, I usually put a book with mathematical equations, which I use in computations. The illumination from the lamp on the right does not extend enough to illuminate that book. So, I needed a lamp, to illuminate the area with the book, on the left side of that desk. My first thought was to buy one of the incandescent lamps made by Electrix company, on the East Coast of the USA. Those lamps give excellent illumination, and broad enough. Unfortunately, the lamps which I received from Electrix had bended, or bended and damaged, shades. Then I decided to buy this Moffatt 95031 lamp. I received the lamp yesterday, The lamp was very well packed (at the factory, I believe). It requires some small assembly. Namely, the C-Clamp should be attached to the bottom of the arm. The screws, and the wrench, to do that, are included. The shade of this lamp is conical, with the maximum diameter 4.5" and the height 5.75". So, the shade is not big in size, and inobstructive. Inside the shade is a reflector. It is, probably, made of some metal, and it has some light grey metallic color. It is not white in color (like the reflectors of Electrix lamps, for example). Maybe if the reflector were of white color, the lamp would give some more light? On the other side, the reflctor, as it is, is probably what is necessary for industrial applications. Now, since the reflector is a narrow conical reflector, the lamp focuses illumination on a small area. Before I bought this lamp, I contacted the Moffatt Company (in South Dakota), and received from them information on how large the area of the brightest illumination will be, depending on the distance of the lower edge of the shade of the lamp from a desk. I bended the flexible arm of the lamp, and installed the lamp in such a way that the lower edge of the shade is located approximately at 13.1" from my desk. I also screwed in the lamp a brand new 90 watt GE incandescent bulb. I do not have any instruments to measure illumination, but my eyes tell me that the disk of the brightest illumination is just a little smaller than 17" in diameter, on the surface of my desk, in this situation. This coincides well with the information which I previously received from the Moffatt company on this matter. Now, I still believe, that for my application, the Electrix incandescent lamp, with its white reflector, and a broader area illumination, would be a better lamp. However, this Moffatt 95031 lamp is a good lamp, and, probably, an acceptable compromise for my application. Pacific.

Much nicer than the usual clamp on lamps
Solid, very nice looking, well-made -- much nicer than the usual architect lamps. Although this is made as a workshop lamp, I use it over my bed, clamped on to the headrest. It's nicely heavy, and the gooseneck is strong -- even the switch has a satisfying clunk to it rather than the usual click of cheap plastic switches. I was fed up with the flimsy usual clamp lamps, and almost bought a fancy lamp that is several times the cost of this until I saw this one.

was never satisfied. So I gave this Moffatt lamp a try
Over the years I’ve purchased several lamps to attach to my grill. I tried the battery powered LED route, all where too dim, was never satisfied. So I gave this Moffatt lamp a try. I’ve owned it for 2+ years. I don’t keep it attach to the grill 24x7, I attach it only when I need it and store in a dry place after use. We grill out at least twice a week into the evening year round; under a covered porch. So I’ve used this lamp a lot. This lamp has been very reliable. It’s still very sturdy, no corrosion, breakage, power cord and electrics are in great shape, looks very new. Note: I did over tighten the c-clamp screw causing it to bend. It was clearly my fault. I replaced the screw with a comparable hex screw from Lowes; works fine for me. Good product, worth the investment.

Just Right Light
This is my 3rd Moffatt task lamp! (Their magnifying-glass with bendable arm is another great Moffatt product too!) It is not the prettiest lamp in the room, but it is perfect for extra lighting on any detail work. I use it for painting or drawing, carving, sewing or any craft project. The shade prevents burns. The arm stays where you put it! I have tried others, this is the best! My daughter has one over her sewing table too.

Perfection in task lighting
This thing exudes quality. Every part is five stars. Simple switch that works. Arm that bends to just about any angle then STAYS PUT!!! Bench clamp that works well. Wait for it...wait for it...you can put a standard bulb in it OR one of the new fangled LED bulbs in this thing to reduce the heat signature of the lamp. Bam a perfect five star product. **Having the ability to accept an easy to purchase bulb in this unit is a huge plus over other task lamps**

Works better for me than Alvin
Compared to the Alvin swingarm lamp it replaces, this Moffat lamp: a) can be used on a side of my table that's next to a wall without gouging the wall; b) is lighter; c) is more adjustable; d) stays put; e) has a switch that might last; f) takes standard light bulbs, and; and g) is made in the USA. The one thing I could wish for is a dimmer, but I can put a dimmer inline if I decide I really want it. So far, I'm pleased.
