Not chinese junk.

I bought a coil on here that was supposed to be Briggs n Stratton model. Garbage. Motor started for about 60 seconds n died. Test showed was coil failure. Had to tear down motor again! Searched high and low for another. All had diff name manufacturers but same picture? Finally found "Stens" for 20.00 more but solid state and made in Cleveland, Ohio. Out of the box, it weighed 4x that of the Chinese one. Wires close to 2x diameter. Popped it in and tractor runs like a beast again. Will not buy anything but "Stens" parts from here on; suggest you do the same . When will we learn the best is made in America. Problem is finding any stuff made here. Thank you Stens for not selling us out.

This is the one to buy.

I needed a new ignition coil for my Briggs 18 HP opposed twin riding mower. I had replaced it once before with a cheap one that didn't last too long. Because it's kind of a hassle to replace I went with a Stens replacement as most of their products are excellent.

Works perfectly

I purchased two of the cheaper coils, different brands, but exactly the same product, the first one started twice, ran for maybe an hour all total with a slight misfire, that it did not have before, then died. The second was DOA. That is when I found the Stens brand, twice the price, but it is similar quality to factory, the windings on the coil are dramatically larger then the first two. Starts up first try and no miss fire, ran for 3 hours no problem. I have used Stens brand before and have had good service with their products. Most of the cheap coils are the same low quality if you look close at the picture you can see the difference.

Fits perfect, but it would be nice if it lasted more than 2 days

Worked OK at first, motor didn't sound like it was running as good as it should, and after about 2 days of use no more spark again. Tested with my multi meter and found it was shorting out to the ground connection. Skip this one, spend a couple extra bucks and get a good one.

It works

I added new plugs and this - it fit great and so far is working very well. The old one was rusty and misfired when it got warm. So far this has been just fine

Metal wire cable

I bought to replace original equipment on Briggs 16hp riding mower. Old one chewed through by mice. They tried to chew through this too, but didn’t make it through the the actual metal wire. The original one was carbon fiber or whatever the conductor was that wasn’t metal wire. I just retaped it and works fine.
