Check the screws and clean yearly

This screen filter works well my only complaint is that the three screws that hold the two twelve inch long screen tubing together are prone to rusting. I replaced the screws after a year of use with stainless steel screws. It is a good practice to pull the screen and check valve yearly and clean. This year I found a half a dozen mussels growing inside the screen tubing about the size of a thumbnail. The screen allowed the microscopic mussel larva to pass inside and they had a nice environment to grow. The unit is used in a Texas lake and provides irrigation water.

Not what I thought it was.

So for people just learning how to work with lake/canal irrigation systems..like me..this was not what I thought it was going to be. So beware. This filter needs a nylon cover..not included with this listing. This is promoted as a "Superior" product..but the packaging that came said "Decko". If you are looking for the larger filter with built in fine mesh nylon filter in it..this is not it. That Superior filter is the $32 one..and no one has it but Home Depot. Major bummer..I agree. This is being returned.

Excellent screen for canal water

Our yard sprinkler system uses water out of a canal that is also used to water field; it thus has a lot of debris such as weeds/grass floating in it. I tried several screens but they all simply clogged up with grass. This lake screen is by far the best. It has never clogged to the point that I had to manually clean it and had lasted several seasons before I had to replace it with an identical one. (must have busted over the winter)

Works great

I use this for my lake pump. Pump that draws water out of the lake we live on to water our garden and yard. It's sturdy and works great. Didn't use the cloth sock thing over it. Doesn't seem to need it.

Nice, sizable screen

Nice, sizable screen, but if you're using it for lake water you'll need to also purchase the accompanying bag. I put this inline with the bag and a 3 filter + UV system and have drinkable water at the camp.

Durable and large

This is a nicely made intake screen with fairly heavy plastic. I could step on it and it would be fine. The screen is big enough to let in particles that might even clog a smallish impact sprinkler, so I use the filter bag with it. Read the dimensions in the description, because it's really that big. Which is a good thing. I think it will last me a long time.

I dont use this on a lake but out of a canal and it does its job wonderfully I've never had to clean it and it keeps all the sticks and leafs from getting into my other filters.
