Ahoffoss was right!
I purchased this belt to replace the original belt on an older but relatively unused GX95. It was 0.3 inches longer and had the same back width but as ahoffoss noted, about .030 thinner from outer to inner face. The initial fit was good although the tensioner was nearer its limit of travel. It mowed for about an hour and a half, then the belt turned over and jumped off at the mower end cutting a small grove in the belt. I replaced it and it mowed about 50 feet, and it twisted and jumped off again this time catching between one of the pulleys and the guard which prevents it from jumping off when the belt is de-tensioned. That cut my new belt nearly in two. Since this event, I replaced it with an John Deere M112006 belt and have subsequently mowed about 20 hours without problem. Ideally, the slight difference in thickness of the belt would not be an issue, but due to the misalignment between the motor pulley and the deck pulley that occurs as the deck is lowered, conditions are far from ideal. I have to conclude that the additional thickness of the belt that John Deere obviously did for a reason is sufficient to prevent the belt from twisting and destroying itself. Bottom line, the Oregon 75-972 is not a direct replacement for the M112006 belt in all applications.

As the description and title say, this belt is a substitute for JD M112006. The Price wasn't too far off the JD price, but I needed it shipped, when I ordered due to personal time constraints. Shipping was quick, proper part arrived and it's worked perfectly for me each week for 3 months now. I'd buy this one again, and if i couldn't get it locally at Tractor Supply, I'd order through this route once again. If you need a M112006, this will suit just fine. Don't hesitate to order.

Perfect fit,.....Snapped first pass!
Fit perfectly on my John Deere mower. Always need to keep one around just in case. Because it's ALWAYS going to break when you only have a couple more passes to make! Oregon is just as good (and far less expensive) than the replacements from the dealer! *******UPDATE******* Finally got around to mowing again and on the very FIRST pass, the belt snapped in half. Checked to make sure it wasn't something on my mower causing the problem, verified that it wasn't. My original belt (John Deere factory) lasted well over 10 years. This one, not even 10 minutes! It's too bad cause normally Oregon replacements are great. This one did seem slightly "thinner" but overall it fit fine. Guess that little bit of thickness makes a big difference?!

Great belt, but John Deer must surely be incorrectly worded. It should be Dear John, the way you have to practically disassemble the whole unit to simply change a belt!

For my John Deere GX85
Fit my John Deere GX85 mower deck blades then it wraps around pully. This is not the belt for the engine part! It's for the mower blade part. Somewhat easy fix. Mower works great again!

the belt i received was 1/2 inc x 63-1/4 RAN FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR AND BROKE ,,, TOO LONG I PRESUME COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY CHEERS R GAGNON should be refunded
