SUCK
The shoulder straps are fine the issue is the way your very Expensive pump is mounted to it very flimsy and unit flops around on your back when you put it on use it and take it off...But unfortunately its the only back pack one they make. I cannot use the belt strap because of the heavy strain on my lower back (OUCH)

Get that weight off your lower back/hips and distribute it over your shoulders!
I purchased two (2) of these 3M BPK-01 backpacks so that our two PAPRs could be worn comfortably for longer periods. In almost every PAPR kit 3M includes quality European made leather waist belts but if you intend to wear the PAPR for an hour or more, switch to the backpack. The reason is simple since the shoulder straps of the backpack distribute the weight across your shoulders and back. It's a lot more comfortable than having all that weight situated at the lower back and hips. Not to mention, if you are using beefy organic vapor + multi-gas cartridges with the HEPA filter like me, the PAPR assemblies can become fairly weighty. I have attached five (5) images; Two (2) show the backpack sealed in original packaging, two (2) show both sides of the backpack laid out on my bench, and the last one shows both of my PAPRs mounted onto the 3M BPK-01 backpacks. The Adflo High Altitude blower mounts onto the BPK-01 without any extra accessory but the TR-600 and TR-800 blowers must be mounted with the *not included* TR-655 backpack adapter. All in all, I would highly recommend these backpacks for anyone who uses a PAPR regularly. While 3M accessories are spendy, they are quality made and most of their commercial/industrial items are all made in Europe, USA, and Japan.

It works amazing, you just have to buy the piece to actually connect your papr separately.
Having to spend $35 on a separate piece to actually connect your papr to it kinda sucks. But it works great, I would never go back to the belt.

Total waste of money
Where to start. Hmmm the fact that you need to buy another $30 adapter plate to be able even begin to use this is comical. The backpack is very narrow where the straps, it's more of a child's shoulder spacing. Then there is 0 padding on the straps or back plate. As has been said in other posts the placement of the buttons once the pack is on makes it so you would need to remove the pack to even shut the unit off. The whole thing feels cheap and compared to the level of quality I expect from a 3M product, I am shocked this junk made it past the R&D phase since its horribly flawed from almost every angle. Hopefully 3m looks to offer something better in the future as for those who need to wear their PPE for hours on end, this is not a viable solution at all.

Convenient, some limitations
Better for me, for prolonged wearing compared to on the hip as on the hip gets in the way of the hands, tools. Also, im waist size 32 and the belt is made for size 100+ (who has a 10 foot waistline?); the papr ended up around my ankles a few times. But (there’s always a butt), your team mate will have to change the papr battery for you if you backpack it, & the hose makes a weird turn being so close to the helmet.

Functional, needs work on comfort
Love the backpack vs the waist belt system, easier to wear it for longer times Comfort needs work! The straps dig into your armpits if the straps are properly tightened, otherwise you have to loosen it to relieve under arm pressure. Needs cushioned shoulder straps which I remedied with a seatbelt cushion for infant car seats straps . Overall: great.

Life saver
Love this product. We nurses in the ICU and take care of COVID pts use this to put our PAPR on. Referred several others in my unit. Love this product.

Fits the TR-300 models without the adapter
Works great. I know the description says is for the TR-800 models but for those you need to purchase a separate adapter. If you have any of the TR-300 models you should be fine.

Bracket needed but not included
The mounting bracket need to also be bought. Should be included as there is no removable bracket on the hip strap. So now have to spend $50 to be able to use this item !
