I bought this doll for my great grand niece’s 7th birthday. I didn’t get a chance to really look at it as it arrived the same day as her party. However, she told me she loves it. My sister told me the doll fit perfectly in newborn sized clothes.

I bought this doll for my Mom's 86th birthday. Mom has Alzheimer's, and we have had trouble finding things that she likes to do or have. I had seen Adora dolls on the Alzheimer's Store web site, and they had a video on the Someone to Love doll's page that showed a woman with Alzheimer's talking to and singing to one of the dolls, obviously delighted with it. I had not planned on spending this much on her gift during a "tight money" month, but after seeing the video, I decided to get an Adora doll for Mom. I bought it from Amazon instead of from the Alzheimer's Store, because the price was significantly lower on Amazon. To make sure I chose the right Adora doll for Mom, I selected several that I thought she might like and showed her the photos of them. Although she changed her selection several times, this was the only doll she chose twice in a row, and when I asked her again later in the day, she still wanted this one. I knew she would not remember it later from seeing the pictures and the doll would still be a surprise on the big day. Today was her birthday, and I gave her the doll. She loved it! She mentioned over and over how pretty it was, and she held it tenderly and gazed at it, smiling. She touched its hair, its feet, and fingered the dress while looking at it. Then she used an expression we've never heard her use before--"It sends me." She was so absorbed with the doll that it was really touching, and she talked about each part of it. She loved the eyes, the lips, the hair, and even the bow in the doll's hair. I'm looking forward to seeing her enjoy it every day, and I'm so glad I overcame my hesitation and bought it. I wasn't sure if she would engage with it or not, but she totally did. Now I have that wonderful feeling of satisfaction, knowing that I got her the perfect gift. I was very impressed with the doll's realistic-looking features. The little fingers and toes are so lifelike, and the face is adorable. Everything about the doll is excellent. When I asked Mom what she liked about the doll, she said, "Everything." I also must mention that this doll came beautifully packaged. It is shipped in its own box, which is placed inside a larger box and padded with paper. When you open the doll's box, she is covered with a wraparound paper and has a hairnet on to keep her hair in place during shipping. She is tied to a backboard with white ribbons so that she does not move within the box. This is all designed to ensure that the doll arrives in pristine condition, not messed up and not damaged. It was exquisitely packaged, and I regard this as a mark of professionalism and attention to detail on the part of the company. This doll exceeded my expectations. Nothing could take the place of the moments spent watching Mom with her doll. I recommend that if you get this as a gift that you have your video camera ready for a priceless video. If your recipient responds to the doll the way my mom did, you'll want to keep that moment forever.

This is a beautiful doll with an adorable outfit. It is perfect for a collector to look at, however it is not for kids to play with, regardless of how gentle they are. I got it for my daughter for her birthday and it did not hold up well at all. After just a few days the dolls hair got frizzy and gross and she didn’t even try to brush or style it. The clothes started to pill and snag just by holding the doll. She has other dolls she’s played with for years that never showed this kind of wear.

She is perfect. She will be the gift to our 3 year old Great Grand niece - who happens to have a 6 year old brother. Normally they play well together - but the 3 year old has a shorter fuse than does her 6 year old brother and can be very brutal if he makes her mad......She get over it once yeld at or disciplined.

I have purchased a play toddler doll for each of my granddaughters. I have six. I make all four seasons of wardrobe for the doll as part of the gift. We don't have a lot of money; so the doll for our youngest granddaughter, like the others, had to be one I could reasonably save up to buy. This doll needed to be different from the other granddaughters' dolls, too. I was also looking for a beautiful face. I had purchased Lee Middleton dolls in the past and had been very happy. One of my big questions had to do with the arms and legs. I wanted a doll with the 3/4 vinyl arms and legs. Some of the outfits I make are short-sleeved. I also make shorts and summer playsuits with shorts bottoms. I looked at the photos carefully. When I Googled, "dolls with 3/4 vinyl arms and legs", the Adora dolls came up. Like I said, I read the customer reviews and the questions and answers on Amazon to see if this question had been answered. I thought it had been to my satisfaction. I checked out other websites, too. After much deliberation, I ordered the Adora Baby Doll, 20 inch "The Cat's Meow". I was so excited when she arrived--exactly on the day I was told to expect her. I couldn't wait to get her out of the box. She is beautiful! Then came the big disappointment when I discovered that her arms and legs were 1/4 vinyl. This doll brought about a great deal of conversation with my husband and with my daughter-in-law (the mom to the granddaughter, who would receive the doll). I know it may sound like a small issue, but there was a lot to consider. I saved up for her, and did what I thought was good research. At last, as my husband said, "You are going to have a hard time finding a doll with such a pretty face." I believe he is right. I kept her. I believe that this little bit of information should be given with any doll you don't have the chance to inspect otherwise. The way the dolls are displayed in the advertising doesn't show this. Google search doesn't catch it. It's the little fact that is cleverly hidden. Amazon was great with this. I spoke to one of their people, too. I asked if this could be something required to made known. I believe it will be mentioned to the sellers, but what the sellers do with that request is unknown.

I don't know exactly why I suddenly found myself attracted to this doll. Maybe it was the colour of her outfit. Maybe it was because she's one of those dolls that just seemed to have that certain realism about her. Or both. But I kept looking at pictures of her, and whilst I was reading reviews about her on the American Amazon website, and came across one in particular about a women who had brought one for her elderly mother with alzheimers, I just suddenly found myself thinking perhaps I'd better get one just to see what they're like, as it just goes to show that there's obviously something about these dolls that makes them just as popular with adults as they are with children. Also as a woman with Autism, I just somehow know that I would pretty much have no idea how to bring up an actual baby, so I guess I just see dolls as a way of getting that same kind of "motherly feeling". Though I'd perhaps imagined her to be a tiny bit bigger, her size is pretty much to be expected for 52cm. And the fact that she also weighs and smells like a real newborn is just yet another thing that adds to what makes these dolls so popular with kids and adults alike. She's expensive for a doll but as far as I can see well worth the price. I have named her Penelope.

I am so pleased with my purchase of the Cat's meow adora doll. She arrived in perfect condition and did not disappoint! She is very good quality, smells like baby powder, and is wearing an adorable outfit. Her face is exactly as pictured with real eyelashes top and bottom and lovely blue eyes and facial features. I must say I was a little hesitant when I read some reviews regarding the quality of her hair. I was happy to see that the hair was also as pictured. Her hair is curly and according to the booklet that comes with the doll, should not be brushed. To maintain the curls it should only be combed and the curls twirled with your finger. With proper care the hair should not be a problem. I collect dolls and this is my first adora purchase and I am extremely happy with the quality. I would not hesitate to purchase another as there are so many other cute dolls available.
