Special and Handy
This is the first time that I bought this tool. It uses alkaline batteries, but it's fairly fast and has good torque for light to medium jobs and it has more power than Lithium rechargeable batteries. It has the option for manual torque and it has an LED light that exceed expectations. The price is a little high, but I believe it's still worth to have for the service it provides.

THE electric screwdriver for basic home maintenance
This thing doesn't over-torque so you have less risk of stripping things. It is like a home improvement artist designed this thing. It has the best overall fee and utility of any tool I own. It is perfection. When you let off the power button, it functions like a normal screw driver and you can hand tighten things without changing any other settings. The bottom line is if you are a novice at home improvement or want something that won't destroy what you are working on, this is good. No stupid built in rechargeable batteries either. So if it dies I can change the batteries in 2 min vs charging it. Just get enloop rechargeable batteries if you want to be a true environmentalist. It uses standard drill bits. So say you are putting together furniture with allen wrench type screws. Just go to the hardware store and buy allen wrench drill bits and you are good to go. I have a ton of tools, including a lot of screw guns that are much more powerful than this. This is my go to for basic stuff due to the feel it has. If you have a kid in college or an apartment this would be a good start for them to get into power tools.

Get it!
No complaints. No built-in USB rechargeable nonsense - just put the batteries in and off you go! Yeah, it is on the bigger side, so may not fit in all the tight spaces, but to unscrew few wall plates here and there - this thing is perfect!

Excessively low screw turning power
My 6 volt B&D screwdriver is the Model BCF601AA. I state this, because of the enormous disparity in user comments on the turning torque provided by the tool being reviewed. I liked the compact length and the extension bit holder. The latter is the best thought-out extension accessory that I have seen on any small cordless driver. I also like that the tool operates off four conventional AA batteries. Sometimes it is more convenient to carry spare batteries than to carry a battery charger. Now for the bad. The specific tool that I received has abominably weak turning power. To compare, I have a two speed Ryobi HP44L. This is a rechargeable 4 volt driver (3.6 volt actual). On the high, 600 RPM speed, it turns a #8 torx drive, 1-1/4" long screw into the side of a Douglas Fir 2x4 with speed and does so until the truss screw head is fastened tightly to the wood surface. I also have a Dremel driver. My 4 volt Dremel rechargeable driver, one speed only, does the same, very powerfully. Since the B&D literature refers to the speed of driving a #6 screw into wood, I tried that with this B&D. The BCF601AA could only drive the screw in one quarter of an inch into the Douglass Fir. As the screw stalled, the extension end-light failed while power tightening was applied. Admittedly, the packaging referred to pine, which I did not have. I live in Douglas Fir growing country. Each of the other comparison drivers, identified above, drove the #6 screw in rapidly and fully. I tried two different sets of alkaline AA batteries: the original Chinese set and an American set. They performed identically. As received and tested this tool is worthless to me for any practical household use, and emphatically not for any use in my woodworking shop. Black and Decker should examine its production system and determine why so many buyers are getting an abysmally weak product while other users, if they are testing the same tool, are satisfied. I am not satisfied and I am a very frequent tool user. A question is, why award two stars? The reason is that some buyers may receive better performing examples. Another reason is that the very handy extension bit holder transmits the driver's LED light on through the end. This is unique in my experience and potentially very useful in some applications. The driver is usable without power as a hand-held, hand-turned screwdriver with a lighted extension. That could be useful in some applications.

THIS IS NEEDED FOR THIS DRILL!!
Alright, so eveyone here is complaining about the torque not being enough. Now this may be the case if your using rechargable NiMH batteries and alkaline batteries. However, if you use rechargable NiZn batteries, your results will be more impressive! You can get em here on Amazon, just type in NiZn batteries and a couple options appear. This drill will exceed expectations when paired with NiZn.

Pretty much the only option with removable batteries, works very well too
I had a rechargeable screwdriver for years. The built-in battery eventually died. I had to throw it away despite the fact that the screwdriver was still in good shape. What a waste. I hate the trend of built-in batteries. This is done on purpose to force people to buy new products. Also, the screwdriver battery was often in a need of recharge when I needed it so I had to resort to a hand tool or wait until the driver charged up. I love this one for its replaceable AA batteries . It works very well and it's powerful enough for my purposes. The only complaint is that I wish there was a separate switch for the light so it can be turned on before you start using it so you can actually see the hole or the screw before you start driving it.

Easy on the wrists.
A good value, easy to use, & runs on standard AA batteries. (Rechargeables e.g. Eneloop recommended.) I used to wonder why anyone would need these, but as I've aged (17 years in IT), I find I'm increasingly prone to wrist fatigue if I have to disassemble a big stack of devices, so this B&D is perfect for my older-dude hands. I use it to unscrew, and then for installing screws, I use a Williams ratcheting screwdriver (to avoid over-tightening and/or stripping). Recommended.

Great gift!
This was a Christmas gift from my husband who last year gave me a tool box that he built into our linen closet. The driver has already come in handy and I'm sure will be used many times in the days to come. It's easy to hold and change from driving to removing screws and has a nice selection of bits. The best thing is it's battery powered, not rechargeable, so it doesn't have to be stored near an outlet. It's less bulk and fits into tighter spaces than my rechargeable driver and stores nicely in my tool box.

Amazing Tool
Very powerful, enough power to finish a huge IKEA table without bothering your hand to fasten 90 screws. At some point a final manual tightening were required which can be done by the tool itself because it is the shape of a screw driver as well. No problem opening or closing the battery chamber lid. I tried like 10 times because I saw reviews. A small push on one side of the lid and then pull it up to remove.

Original version is more powerful
I own three versions of the Black and Decker Alkaline Screwdriver. This one which is the BCF601AA, a newer version of the AS6NG and the older or original version of the AS6NG. Out of the three the original version was the best. The gears in the original version the gears were made of metal whereas the newer version was made from plastic. The BCF601AA version although it has more speed was not as powerful as the AS6NG version. I had to use the AS6NG to screw in screws further into the wood where the BCF601AA wouldn't turn anymore. Which also makes the BCF601AA less capable when it comes to drilling as well. Also I prefer the direction buttons as on the AS6NG on the side of the screwdriver. I'm able to change rotating directions on the fly with one hand whereas the BCF601AA version requires me to use two hands. One to hold the screwdriver and the other to turn the switch. However, the one great feature on it is that it has a light so you are able to see what you are doing. Overall if you can get your hands on an original AS6NG version you will be better off but if not than the BCF601AA version would be better than the newer version of the AS6NG because once the plastic gears strip or break it won't have any power anymore and it happened so easily to mine.

En general funciona muy bien y la luz es muy útil. Pero me gustaría poder controlar la velocidad de giro con el mismo botón que entre más se presione más rápido gire pues a cierta velocidad el desarmador se sale del tornillo y se podría dañar tanto la ranura del tornillo como la punta del desarmador. Lo que he hecho es usarlo manualmente para aflojarlo primero y luego presionar fuerte para que cuando gire no se salga de la ranura de la cabeza del tornillo. De igual manera cuando lo pongo para apretarlo lo coloco manualmente y luego lo aprieto. Es muy bueno el poder cambiar uno las pilas fácilmente por las que se consiguen donde sea y que mantienen la carga al momento de ser usadas. Eso de recargar las pilas constantemente quita mucho tiempo porque luego no mantienen la carga y no se pueden cambiar fácilmente ni se consiguen porque ya son tecnologías obsoletas o salen más caras que un desarmador nuevo.

Excelente producto, a buen precio.
Creo que es lo que ofrece; es decir, desarmador con puntas y de pilas (o baterías) AA. Dado que es para el hogar, uso promedio, pues muy buena opción. Los de batería de litio suelen morir después de un tiempo, en cambio este tipo de desarmador pues únicamente le cambias las baterías y ya. Claro, el gusto de cada quien. El precio excelente, en una tienda de autoservicio no lo encuentras a este precio. Ampliamente recomendable.

missing the torque adjustment
I've purchased this electric screwdriver to replace an older BLACK+DECKER Cordless Screwdriver which served me well for years until the built-in rechargeable battery failed. A new battery for this older model was not available any longer and an aftermarket alternative would exceed the cost of a new screwdriver... This new model has a built-in light and the ability to use standard AA batteries, which is great as I use rechargeable ones and don't have to worry about failed battery replacements in the future. The new screwdriver works as expected and the only thing I'm missing is the torque adjustment feature my older screwdriver had to avoid overtightening.
