Professional Tap Shoes

These are super high quality professional tap shoes. There’s almost no difference between the men’s & the women’s in this style - just fyi. Buy them based on your foot measurement & you should be good. These are leather & though they’re pretty stiff when you first get them, they’re very comfortable after being broken in & will last for years. JSams are heavier than beginniner shoes & produce an amazing sound. They even have really great resale value in case your tapper out grows them

Love These!

These tap shoes are fantastic and well worth the money. I absolutely LOVE them. They’re a fair bit heavier than most taps because they have very large taps, thicker wood base, and a more robust toe box. As a result, they take a bit of getting used to and a couple days to break in, but once you adjust to them, they produce a crystal clear, deeper sound when dancing that is really impressive. They also come with separate rubber grips, which you’ll want to take to a cobbler if you want them installed properly without damaging the shoes.

Great shoes with a learning curve.

The plus: these shoes are well made and strangely enough, despite reviews claiming otherwise… I ordered my street size (12) and they fit perfectly. Mine also came with laces, although very thin and should be replaced with proper sports laces. The negative: they are very heavy and take some serious getting used to. The indifferent: for the price, they could have came pre-rubbered on the bottom. The foam piece they include with the shoes is not suitable for the level of performance I expect from $220 shoes.

Converting Men's to Women's Sizing

I wanted to write this review to possibly help other ladies who are looking at the men’s version of this shoe, as women’s availability in white is sometimes limited. I currently wear the JSams in black in a Women’s 9.5 (street shoe size 8.5 with a slightly wide toe box but narrow heel). They fit great and I LOVE them! But I’ve had a hard time finding the 9.5 in the white color and wanted them for an upcoming show, so I decided to try the Men’s. According to the Bloch size chart, a 9.5 in Women’s converts to a 7.5 in Men’s. There are reviews, however, that sounded like I might need to size down a bit more. So I ordered the 7.5 and the 7.0 in Men’s to see which was a better fit (thank you Prime for free returns!). Out of the box, the Men’s 7.5 appeared much bigger than the 9.5 Women’s. The Men’s 7 was closer in length to the 9.5 Women’s. The ankle opening in both sizes is bigger in the Men’s than the Women’s, and the upper of the shoe is also a bit taller overall. I’ve provided some photos to help illustrate the differences. The first photo shows the Men’s 7.5, my current 9.5 Women’s, and the Men’s 7 (left to right). The second photo shows the slightly taller upper on the Men’s. The third photo is the Men’s 7 next to the Women’s 9.5, and the fourth photo is the Men’s 7.5 next to the Women’s 9.5 Although the toe box area of the Men’s 7 was noticeably smaller than in the 7.5, I had less heel slippage in the 7 versus the 7.5 (note that I do have a narrow heel). So I decided to keep the size 7. Hope this review helps, and happy tapping!

Nice shoes … but don’t expect laces

Ordered the Mens Jason Samual Smith tap shoes online as every store was sold out. These tap shoes arrived in good condition, although not in the original box. Instead, a generic shoe cardboard box was used, and printed on the inside, a statement that the original box was damaged in transportation. Also, shoelaces were not included. I have purchased these same shoes in store (previously), and the shoes are supposed to include ties. I’m curious if they left out the laces as they were lost when either Amazon or the seller repackaged the shoes. Idk. Missing the laces isn’t normally a big deal, but just a pain when I had paid $$$ for a good pair of tap shoes, and now gave to go out and get laces which should have been included originally. Fit = 1/2 size to full size larger than described. Ordered size 9, fits like a size 10.

Very nice tap shoe. Comfortable and amazing sound!

Very comfortable tap shoes! Could tap right out of the box. The sound is a deeper, more bass heavy tap and sounds very nice on studio wood or a tap board. If you wanted a more classic high pitched tap, you could mess around with the screws a little until you find the sound you want. Good support and very nice heel sound. It basically shuffles and peradiddles for you.

We love our J Sams!!

These are taps that you can put on and don't have to worry about breaking in. Great sound and structure. Took a few returns to get the right size as these run bigger than my other Blochs.

Scarpa fantastica, venditore ancora di più

Venditore eccellente. Premessa il mio numero è 39 con misura piede 24cm. Confidando nelle tabelle Bloch avevo acquistato un paio di JSS da donna n. 9 e 1/2 che mi andavano strette e di cui ho fatto reso. In sostituzione avevo ordinato il numero 6 e1/2 da uomo spedando che quello mi andasse bene. Il venditore quando ha visto il doppio ordine mi ha immediatamente chiamato, chiedendomi la misura esatta del mio piede e, sulla base di quello, consigliandomi esattamente la misura esatta per me. È arrivato un 7 da uomo che calza perfettamente. Che dire: Grazie infinite della professionalità e della cortesia. Un consiglio. Se avete dubbi sulla calzabilità o sul numero della scarpa, CONTATTATE prima il venditore.
