One less thing to worry about
So after reading all of the negativity in previous reviews about this product's mounting hardware, I decided to give it a shot anyway. I'm glad I did. Either the company reacted to the complaints or there are a lot of people out there who don't know what they're doing with a bolt, interference nut, and washer. (A little Neversieze on the threads and you'll be just fine) My trailer came with a tab installed from the factory for either a tie down strap for the bow of the boat, or as it turns out, a product like this. It arrived well packaged and on time. I had to cut down the 5" bolt they supply to make it short enough to fit down near the frame of the trailer. Once installed, it works as expected. Very smooth. It'll save me worrying about it on the boat ramp. Just disconnect it from the bow eye and it'll retract by itself. I didn't opt for the stainless version of the product, as I use my boat in fresh water exclusively. I thought an extra $25+ was out of line for the upgrade anyway. It remains to be seen how it holds up against wear and corrosion, but so far so good.

Look great and very easy to use.
Quality product. I have 3 - two on the transom and one on the bow. I would not own a boat trailer without permanetly mounted transom tie downs. They are so quick and easy to use and no risk of losing the tie down or entanglement. The bow mounting point on my trailer required a shorter bolt but that is not the fault of the product. In fact they provide bolt strength specs in the instructions for this contingency.

Should have installed this years ago!
We've been using the same set of D-rings and a turnbuckle since 1985 which was always a huge pain. I finally got one of these and life is sooooo much easier when launching or loading the boat. It feels very heavy duty and I definitely trust it. The ratcheting feature is very nice and has not jammed on me yet (like many do). To install it I just had to drill a hole through the trailer frame which wasn't hard. It included all the hardware I needed. I liked it so much, I bought the matching transom straps as well! I'd highly recommend it.

Be prepared to purchase your own hardware
The buckles themselves are great, no complaints. The hardware is another story. First, the bolts are too long unless you’re going through the frame of the trailer. Second, one of the bolts came bent. And lastly, the lock nuts just bind up, and are almost impossible to tighten with hand tools, and using an impact you run the risk of galling the threads. I ended up purchasing some 7/16 grade 8 bolts and nylon lock nuts to finish the job.

Great boat trailering accessory
They work great they’re bolted to the trailer so no one can steal them. And make loading and unloading your boat fast. The only issue I’ve had is when it’s muddy it takes a little bit of messing around to get them to retract but other then that I love them and would buy again

Easy all the way around
I ordered a pair of these to replace my original tie downs and glad I did. They were easy to install and a snap to use on the launch.
