Disappointed by the spray tip

Well made steel container, it looks like a really good tool. The problem we had was the nozzle wasn’t manufactured correctly and the spray pattern was terrible. We were sealing stamped concrete and it made a mess. Ended up on hands and knees blending the sealer so there weren’t any streaks. Disappointed to say the least.

Cheap, Sturdy, NO-FRILLS Workhorse of a Sprayer. (Comes with fan nozzle. See review if you want a cone nozzle)

A good, simple sprayer. Like many other reviewers, I have been through several cheaper, plastic sprayers. This one I have been using for over a year and it works very well. There are 2 issues I have found with it. 1. There is no pressure relief valve. This isn't really a fault, just a "wish it had one" kind of thing. If I need to release pressure, I lay the tank down on its side so the hose is at the top, and let it bleed off. 2. The nozzle produces a fan-shaped spray, and I often want a conical spray for spot application. The fan nozzle does a great job applying evenly in sweeps. If you're applying to a large area, the fan works great. I have not been able to find a brass conical spray nozzle that will fit this sprayer, so I made one. HERE IS HOW I FIT A CONICAL SPRAY NOZZLE TO THIS SPRAYER: You will need: 1. Chapin 66000 Brass Adjustable Cone Nozzle w/ Viton (available here on Amazon) 2. "1/4 in MIP x Close" Brass Pipe Nipple. About $3 at any decent hardware store. (I used a Watts LFA740) 1. Screw the Chapin cone nozzle onto the brass pipe nipple. You may want to use teflon tape for a tighter seal, since this connection will be permanent. 2. Unscrew the fan nozzle from the wand on the sprayer. 3, Screw the cone nozzle/brass pipe nipple onto the wand. 4. Voila! You now have a cheap, reliable sprayer with a cone nozzle.

Works Perfect for Water-Based Concrete Sealer

Assembled easily and didn't leak. Works perfectly to apply water-based concrete Sealer with water-like viscosity. A tip is to be sure you charge it with enough pressure before spraying, and pump every so often while spraying. Working pressure is 40-60psig. Spray pattern will be bad at low pressures. Clean out immediately with clean water and allow to dry inverted (uncapped). Only 4* since it did not include a shoulder strap, which is needed for most any use.

Sprayers Delight

I was a moron buying those cheap (even not so cheap) plastic sprayers from the local home improvement centers. This sprayer is Very well built, looks like it will last forever. No pressure release, just lay on side with the supply line on the high side. Squirts out all the air in about 20 sec, no prob. One year update: You may want a different spray tip. The fan tip is probably great for spraying concrete curing emulsion but not so good for bug spray. Can't say which tip to get, haven't ordered one but will soon. No rust yet. I'm careful not to bang it around so as not to compromise the paint/galvanized finish. Don't leave it full, the pump rod will rust, probably a standard good housekeeping practice anyway. The pump started leaking, not holding pressure. Found out earwigs (what a stupid name for a bug) got into the air holes in the top of the pump and made a mess. The pump dis-assembles easily. The screw part at the top just pops off the whole bottom section. There were bits of bug carcass throughout, especially the valve at the bottom of the pump. Once re-assembled with some synthetic grease, worked like new. So just don't leave it laying around. Still love the unit, but godda get another tip.

Mack Daddy of Sprayers!

It took me a while to finally brake it out and use it but it was worth the wait. Wow, I've owned a lot of different sprayers in my time, most usually left me disappointed, but this sprayer is in a class of its own, I wish I would have done this along time ago. Its sturdy, the spray handle and nozzle are solid, and it holds 3 gallons which I like. I can't say enough about the all around construction of this unit. If you are thinking of purchasing this unit don't wait, buy it, you won't be disappointed! The last sprayer you will ever have to buy, I know it is for me.

Good durable tank for the money.

Good basic spray tank for a good price. Someone complained about not having a pressure gauge; but really? If you want a pressure gauge, then pay the extra money for one. I’ve used tanks like this for the past 40 years, and I am grateful for an affordable quality tank!

Need different seal for use with concrete sealer!

Sprayer worked well with the concrete sealer but the large rubber seal failed at the end. Seal not compatible for use with concrete sealer, will have to find one that is.

Solid tank

This container is solid and does great job spraying water. As other reviewers mention there is no pressure release valve but can do done when laying it on its side with hose outlet upwards. I would have given 5 stars if the cone spraying nozzle attached as is but it doesn't. You need a 1/2" coupler to attach it.

Nice unit but very poor packaging and badly damaged

While I haven’t used the product yet the box appeared to be in great shape. Upon opening the product it looked like it was thrown off a building as it was smashed in several areas. I doubt it will impact performance but very disappointed. Overall looks of the product however is very nice and nozzle etc looks like it may be a quality product. I’m going to buy another one, not sure which and hope it doesn’t look like the one I got when received. I haven’t reached out to vendor either so not their fault!

First time I've changed my rating

First impression of the product was it was well made. However, after using it three times, the wand broke in half at which time I realized how thin the wand is. The valve leaks all over your hands and the spray volume is far to great. Had hoped that made in the USA ment built with pride like it used to. Disappointed.

Highly recommend for home use

I loved this sprayer, I have used the Chapin 1949 in industrial setting so I got this hoping it would be as reliable for home use. I was excited to find that it held up to my expectations. It worked almost exactly as well as the more expensive model, check that all seals and valves are completely tight before using as they arrived barely hand tighten on my unit. I would highly recommend.
