Not worth it
Used twice and carried it in my tool bag. When I went to use for the 3rd time, it wouldn’t turn off. So now I am forced to pull the batteries out and make sure. If I need to use it have batteries that work on me at all time not worth my. Time and money

Weak Laser and a Pain To Use - Not a Great Laser Level
I like Craftsman Tools and have a few different tools from the brand with mostly positive experience. This laser level is not one of my favorites from Craftsman, and 9 times out of 10, I'd rather use one of my regular levels and save the hassle of using this laser level. If you're looking for a laser level that's easy to use out of the box, this one probably isn't a good choice. The main issue is versatility. Unless you're working with exposed studs or in a commercial building, chances are a home DIY user will not be able to use this level easily without buying a tripod. That fact should be front and center on the product page. This laser level as sold is essentially useless. The included plastic mounting arm has built in magnets - again, where is a home user going to mount that? Alternatively you can use a nail to mount this to a wall but the suitable applications are just too limited and I'm not willing to put a hole in my wall to use a level. I do have a tripod and used this level recently on a small DIY project running some cabling in a wall. This exposed the other issue with this product - the laser is entirely too dim. I setup the laser level about 10ft away from the wall I was working on in a well lit room and could barely see the laser. Again, not worth the hassle. Pass on this. There are better options for DIY'ers and certainly for pro's. For example, the9250 Laser Line Level has adhesive putty that makes mounting it to a wall super easy and quick making it a better alternative for the average homeowner.

Not worth it aside from small household jobs.
This doesn't do anything that a regular level could do well enough. Yes, it will help you straighten your picture frames, maybe mount some shelves, but the $5 level does that, too. There are perhaps a few niche tasks where you'd find this nice and useful, but for the price, I can't recommend. For any kind of serious work, you need more control of where the laser projects, and need a much brighter laser. This is only useful with a tripod, or maybe a metal building where the magnets can stick all over the walls. The self-leveling is pretty limited - you need to get it quite close to level before it will work. And you can't go off horizontal, so if you need a line near the ceiling, you need to put the device way up there, too. The dim laser is what really excludes this from serious use. Even in a fairly dim interior, you can't read the lines off-center very well, certainly on anything other than a light-colored wall. Within maybe 5 feet of the cross is fine, but you're on your own after that. Spend more to get something that works for you, instead of frustrating you.

Works Great, Nice Compact Design
This laser level works great, and has a nice compact design. The tool does self-leveling when the tool is within 4 degrees of level. If it's not within that tolerance, it will flash to indicate that you need to make it more level. This is great for installing shelves, where I want things level both horizontally and vertically. It does exactly what I need. This laser level is very easy to use, but it took me a few minutes of figuring things out before I got it working. I'll tell you what I learned, so it will work perfectly for you, too. When I first tried to use mine, the level was way off, and I was about to write to Amazon that I had a defective product. But then I decided to take the batteries out, put them back in, and I think the crucial part is, I flipped the switch from the center "off" position to the right "unlocked" position. When I did that, the laser did some blinking and moving and made itself level! Then once it had found level, I flipped the switch to the left "locked" position, and I had a perfectly nice level line horizontal and vertical. It just took a minute of playing with it to realize what I missed. Once I figured that out, it worked perfectly. The" Safety and Maintenance" Booklet is located between the paper product insert. Yours may include a product manual / instructions, but mine did not come with one (despite a symbol on the back indicating that I should definitely read it before using). I was able to find them by going to the Craftsman website and looking under "Parts & Service". You can enter your product number and download or email a PDF version of the manual. Batteries are included, which is awesome, because I didn't have to go find 2 AA batteries in the battery closet. It comes with a magnetic L bracket that can also be hung from a nail / screw. The magnets seem plenty strong. You can use the level with the included mount, or you can use it with a standard tripod - it has a 1/4"-20 thread mount hole to affix it to the tripod or L bracket. You can also simply set the level on a sufficiently level surface such as a table or counter.

Needs to face the wall at little to no angle, this may or may not cause problems
Perhaps it was my expectations for a laser level, but I was hoping for something that would automatically compensate for projection angles against walls - this isn't it. It requires you to have the laser roughly facing the wall of choice at roughly the same height you want the horizontal line projected, which means if you want a line near the ceiling you have to have some way of supporting the unit on a tripod. I'm a photographer, so I have 9 foot telescoping light stands around with 1/4" tripod bases, but for someone who doesn't I could see where this could be a failing, and a traditional bubble-and-laser level may be a better option. Other than that, the self-leveling works great.
