It’s the nozzle for me!

I love this product. I have crazy sensitive skin and a really good sense of smell so I neeeeed fabric softener that’s not going to smell like anything. I started using Downey Free about a year ago and am really thrilled with the result. I’ve never been able to use fabric softener before this. I was intrigued by the packaging because plastics are going to ruin the oceans, seriously. So when this arrived it took a minute to figure out how to set up the box. Once I got it situated on top of my washing machine I noticed that there’s no need to use the cup! I can just open the spout and fill the fabric softener receptacle on my washing machine - it’s magical. Love the product, and will continue to purchase it in this packaging as long as it’s still being made this way. Excellent!!!

Very Smart!

Okay, first of all this saves soo much plastic from our beautiful planet, honestly its about time! I save money, i dont have to go to the store, and it makes me feel really good about the fact my parents dont have to carry this stuff from the store to the car and then into the house, the box lakes up less room than the bottles that were accustomed to, it sits there on the shelf with a convenient 1/4 turn valve at the bottom of the box so that we don't ever have to pick it up. just twist measure and pour. that alone is good enough of a reason never to look back, i hope that you find this helpful, happy cleaning.

Why no unscented refills?

Although this "starter" box comes in unscented, the only refills offered are April Fresh, gaggifying. I buy this product because it's unscented, so not being able to buy refills defeats the purpose, and what a waste! Other than that, I like the product, the concept, and even the price.

Good product, terrible nozzle

I wanted to love this, I really did, but it's impossible to get liquid out of this thing. It's only half empty but to get any product to come out I had to remove the bag from the box entirely and now I have to squeeze it into the cup and it ends up shooting all over the place. They have the right idea with reduced plastic, but the execution leaves a LOT to be desired. Will look for alternatives until they fix the packaging, because the current nozzle system is a nightmare.

Less plastic, perhaps.

Has the plastic on the outside just been traded for plastic on the inside. Same product but in a dispenser box with nozzle on the side near the bottom. Just open the valve and out the liquid comes. When it was down about 3/4 quarters it wouldn't come out so I had to rip open the box and found that tube end to the nozzle had plugged over. One little poke and it was open and flowing again. I have no idea how they are going to stop this from forming. So, it left a plastic bag a quarter full of white liquid that I simply squeeze out and am using up. It's all kind of crazy out there but at least there is ONE LESS plastic jug purchased at the store, toted to my house and dumped in the landfill. And I just bought another but I'm wondering if I've I only traded the plastic on the outside for plastic on the inside. Maybe it's time to go back to powder to help rid the world of another piece of plastic.

Such a change in packaging!

Have used this product for a long time. This change in packaging is wonderful for the environment. There is a measuring cup, and a place to keep it on top - that was a bonus!

Great

I use this to refill a small free and gentle bottle that we keep with the wash. It does not like to go straight down and its like a power hose. Not sure how you are supposed to fill the little cup straight from it without overfilling the cup? But for me it serves it's purpose perfectly. Easy to store and refills my bottle. This stuff is amazing! My partner failed to tell me for years that the perfume from normal fabric softener was causing a lot of skin irritation. . . But since we've started using this stuff soft clothes and noose skin irritation. It even works great on my babies clothes with no irritation tk her sensitive skin!

Less plastic, but would prefer if Downy F&G came in smart pouches.

Cardboard with a plastic bag inside beats wasteful plastic bottles of Downy, of course, but I would prefer it if Downy F&G came in smart pouches instead (like the scented Downy does). That aside, I had difficulty keeping the tap on this box lined up so that it opened straight down, rather than off to one side. Not a big deal if you place the wide cup underneath, but I prefer to refill a reusable bottle instead (easier to pour into the small dispenser space for fabric softener in a front load washer). As for the 180 loads claimed on the box, I find that to be hugely exaggerated, but it seems to be an economical size for the price anyway.

No!

I love downy free & gentle fabric softener. I’ll continue to buy it, but not in this form. The fabric softener liquid almost like dries and gets stuck where it’s supposed to come out. Every other day I have to get a toothpick to get it out so I can the liquid out… I’ll stick to the bottle.

Save yourself the hassle

This is a new product that they have yet to perfect as in their packaging. Followed instructions turned the knob and the product shot out sideways all over the floor, the machine and my carpet. It is not lined up and takes a bit to manipulate to the correct position. Cup doesn’t go back over the leaky spigot so what a mess. Won’t buy again ever.

MY NEW FAVE = ECO BOX !

I'll be buying Downy Eco Box from now on because it takes up less space on my shelf, I don't have to lift a 3.1 Liter plastic bottle with the easy to use spout and I am trying to use less plastic. This is the same Downy now ULTRA concentrated and a 7 year old could pull off the front section and position the spout !
