Not a real telescope,
GeoSafari Jr. Talking Space Explorer is the new age Viewmaster from days gone by. Had I read the whole description I would have know this. But I didn't, and here we are. This is learning toy, and not a real telescope that you will be able to take outside to use for real star gazing. This STEM toy is an introduction to the vast and wonder of astronomy. The narration is a happy and peppy voice that makes learning fun. I thought that along with the 120+ beautiful images, 13 videos, interesting facts about space and astronomy. There are also quizzes that are fun that work for learning retention. It would have all the bells and whistles ironed out. Eh, not so much. The problems we had were the buttons that were confusing and complicated-the littles 7/8 were able to get the hang of them, the little littles 4-5 were just frustrated. They preferred the pictured and narration. When using GeoSafari Jr. Talking Space Explorer there just didn't seem to be a comfortable position to view. That made for frustrating and short playtime. The makers fell short there. As much thought that went into the telescope, I am surprised they didn't spend more time and thought there. While they did play, it was short term because of the above issues. I don't see this as a long-term toy. They will pick it up and play with it. They really do like it, just is uncomfortable. The price is really high for this toy. Do I recommend? I will leave that up to you. It's a STEM, which I dearly love, due to the education that we slip in, and the whole idea of this toy. I believe with a little work this toy could be a solid 5*

Perfect for little ones
While this isn’t a real telescope, this toy is a hit with my almost 4 year old. She doesn’t totally grasp the quiz section, but it would be great for kids who are slightly older. The viewfinder has awesome pictures of the solar system, planets, and stars. I love the narrations, as well. Emily Calandrelli is very upbeat and engaging! My daughter loves this toy so much, but since there are a limited number of images I think it won’t be a long-term toy for her. Nonetheless, it’s perfect for her interest in space and she still enjoys using it. As a final note, the buttons can be a bit confusing and could potentially use better labeling/guidance in the instructions. Once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy to use.

Nice Introduction to Future Space Explorers But Has Limitations
I'll say that I presumed this was an actual mini telescope, but its more like a pretend viewer. I suppose it's a good simulation for kids to imagine looking through a telescope and getting the perfect result. Interactive space explorer introduces kids to the fascinating world of astronomy, offering intriguing facts and captivating images. The toy's friendly voice adds an extra layer of excitement, making learning even more enjoyable. Easy to use and age-appropriate, the GeoSafari Jr. Talking Space Explorer is perfect for sparking a lifelong love of science and space exploration in little ones. Overall, this educational toy makes an excellent gift for future astronauts and curious young minds alike.

Good Idea. Poor Execution.
The age range on this is listed as 4+, but I did order it for my 3 1/2 year old with high hopes. However, I think this misses the mark regardless of age. There really isn't a comfortable way to position your head and every step requires the user to push a button to make a selection to progress. This means removing your eyes from the "viewfinder" to find the button to push and then looking back into the telescope. We tried placing it on an end table and standing and putting it on the floor and sitting: neither position was comfortable and the toy did not keep my toddler's interest. The idea is great, but execution could be much better. I did consider that a child old enough to more easily find or memorize button locations (6, 7, 8) might enjoy it more, but I don't think there are enough features to keep their attention long enough to warrant the cost. It has become a decoration in my son's space themed bedroom.

Wantt to love this, but just can't quite
So much about this toy is earnest. The voice talent is perky and perfect. But some things are less well thought through. The form factor is the selling point. It looks great, but the first question is: can I go see the stars. Well, no, it's a video seen through the viewfinder. Then it proves hard to digest all the information on the item because the form factor has children with their head pitched oddly over a table to watch. And it won't angle quite comfortably. My guy pulled it onto the floor and on top of him. I date myself with the reference, but had they made a more modern Viewmaster it'd be better - a Viewmaster that does video. Here, there is a bit of disappointment it doesn't 'see stars' outside. But that passes and only hangs on that form factor's uncomfortable design for digesting this information. Maybe even one of the light show toys that are out there that make the room dark. It could almost be a guided planetarium kind of thing. Bottom line we like it here, but don't think it'll become a go to toy after more than a few visits.

A Fun and Educational STEM Toy for Your Little Space Explorer
As a parent, I'm always on the lookout for toys that are both fun and educational for my kids. The Educational Insights GeoSafari Jr. Talking Space Explorer is a great example of a toy that ticks both those boxes. My kids love playing with this toy and exploring space with their imaginations. The Talking Space Explorer features a real astronaut's voice and provides fun and interactive facts about space and the planets in our solar system. The large, easy-to-use buttons make it simple for little ones to navigate through the different facts and activities. Not only is it fun, but this toy is also a great way to encourage an interest in science and STEM learning. It's a great gift for kids aged 4 and up who are fascinated by space and want to learn more. Overall, I highly recommend the Educational Insights GeoSafari Jr. Talking Space Explorer for parents looking for a fun and educational STEM toy for their little space explorer.
