I had no idea what real forstner bits were like. .

having only used the big box store Ryobi kit I purchased and having had varying degrees of success from passable, to horrible with them when I needed ssomething smaller I opted to upgrade to a wider range of quality its after watchin Stumpynubs talk about them on his youtube channel. These cut through plywood like butter and leave a clean exit edge even if you can't do the old standard of half the cut from each side. 10/10 would but again, but wit the quality of these bits that seems an unlikely proposition.

Very good but with a problem.

The Wave Cutter bit set is very good but the problem is in the round shanks. I had to replace the set with "Black Shark" version. Each bit in "Black Shark" (except few smaller sizes) has 3 flats to prevent the bit from slipping in the drill chuck. If Wave Cutter set had those flats I would keep it.

Excellent quality

These were recommended by "Stumpy Nubs" on youtube, a wood worker and reviewer, and he was not wrong. I these to drill the flat bottom holes needed for cabinet door hingers in hardwood doors, HIckory, and I was immediately impressed with the nice wooden box they came in, and then by the quality look and feel of them, and then finally very impressed by how effortlessly they drilled out hardwood and by such a perfect, precision flat bottom holes. Yes I would absolutely recommend these to anyone, without hesitation.

Looks like finally I got a branded product

Have not used yet this 16 bit set. However, bits look perfect. Some defects were found in two smallest 1/4 and largest 2-1/8 bits, but Amazon promptly resolved this problem. I am not sure why my bits are missing flat cuts on the shanks which I noticed on other Fisch bits.

Top of line

They are definitely more expensive than what you find at your local HD or Lowes, but they are so very much better. Super accurate, sharp and durable. If you frequently use this type of bit, I’m a woodworker, I can’t recommend them enough. They are well worth the extra money. Added bonus, they can be sharpened further extending their life expectancy. Probably the last ones you’ll ever need.

An amazing difference!

I have been using a Rockler Forstner bit set for 10 years. The bits heat up and go dull in just a couple of drillings. This Fisch Forstner bit set is utterly amazing! After drilling a two inch deep hole in hard maple, you can grab the bit, and it is as cool as the ambient temperature. It cuts fast, effortlessly and leaves a clean sided and bottom hole. Good tools cost money, but return a better value that is a joy to use.

I’ve used these bits a few times since I purchased them. Incredible precision and clean cuts. No tear out. Expensive but worth the price of admission. If you’re in the market for top quality Forstner bits, and your budget allows it…. You won’t regret it.
