Use low rpm

This was the size hole I needed for my rain barrel bulkhead fitting. It worked well enough to drill it but I went a little too fast and it marred the outer edges of the hole. Luckily no leaks. If used correctly a great tool to have.

It does the job but the corners are not sharp like shown in the picture. Dont know if it makes a difference in performance.

Great drill 1-1/4" bit

I purchased 3 of these 1-1/4" bits for my angle drill to drill wire holes through my basement ceiling floor joists. They were idea due to the short shank. I drilled 62 holes through 2×12 pine floor joists. I had purchased 3 of these bits, only ended using 1. Even after drilling the last hole, the bit still remained just ast sharp as the first hole. Definitely worth the price.

Doesn't look like photo

Correct bit but doesn't look like the photo. The Sides of the cutting part are angled down. They don't come to a spike like in the picture. Still works but wanted that extra cutting part.

Great bit

For those who stated that this bit can’t drill a straight hole, I completely disagree. I drilled through a couple of clamped 2 by 4’s (with an impact driver). The result was perfect. I then inserted a 11/4” dowel through, which fit perfectly. Great value too!

Product not as shown

Irwin makes great tools. However, for some reason, they removed the scoring spikes on the outside edge of the spade bit that are shown in this item's picture. The spikes make a nice clean edge to the hole. It is possible that the new design will work just as well. The important thing is that the item I received does not match the picture. I ordered this item specifically because the spikes were shown. I can buy the spade bit without the spikes at my local hardware store. I am returning the bit that I got. Update your picture.
