Work great!
Kato now uses jumpers on the side of the turnout instead of transit screws on the back side. Place jumpers in the middle posts for DCC or for DC/power routing the jumpers are at the end posts. There was some confusion as the instructions were in Japanese only. Kato makes a great product.

Very realistic switch
The media could not be loaded. Very realistic turnouts. So far, all locomotives and cars in my collection roll over it smoothly. Even the Acela Express was tested on it, and it can go over the curved sections without derailing or decoupling.

Warning! Do Not Buy Kato
I did sizable research before buying the Kato track for my HO trains. I even called Kato USA and spoke with Paul in technical support. Before I did the purchase, Paul told me that the track was universally compatible with all manufacturers and included all DCC signaling equipment in the kit. I received it and learned that the DCC signaling equipment is not part of the kit, and that the instructions state that this track is NOT COMPATIBLE with DCC signaling. The instructions that are in the box are for the DCC track, but that is not the track that was shipped. I called Kato USA and Paul was very rude. Now that the item is sold, I am not viewed as a customer. He said that the instructions refer to a different product than what was in the box, but that if I study the science and engineering of train track design, I can re-wire the track to make it work. I asked him to just send me the correct track, and he said that he was not going to waste his time with me. He handed the phone over to a co-worker who was much more professional and sympathetic to Kato's error, but also would not make it right. I am returning everything that I bought from Kato and want to warn people. Even if you think you are doing your research up-front to prevent any problems, there is nothing that you can do to overcome the situation of being shipped the wrong items, and then facing such a disrespectful technical support manager.

Worth it!!!
I really love this track. I have a whole bunch of Atlas track, enough to do a descent size layout (which I have yet to do). I had been apprehensive to switch to Kato because it meant starting over collecting what I needed. Plus the cost seemed high. I pulled the trigger last Christmas, and I'm very pleased that I did. The track is very solid and looks great. It easily snaps together and stays securely connected, which works great if you just want to throw something together on a low pile carpet. It's easy to quickly switch your ideas around when you change your mind. Whether you're doing a permanent layout, or a temporary one, you can't go wrong with Kato.
