Yes! The Water Goes To The Shower Head!
This was a simple replacement, taking only a few minutes once I found out this was my shower problem. The hardest part for me was getting the spout off the wall. I had to call in reinforcements--my son. Now my shower has normal water pressure, without half the water wasted down the drain.

Didn't work but it was only $7
The diverter didn't work in my kholer tub spout. The stem was too short, the the was too skinny for my pull knob, even if those worked the white plastic divider part was too wide. But at least it was only $7 and now I know I how the diverter is supposed to work without paying a plumber and buying a new tub spout. I can probably still fix it myself. Since my shower basically works but the water never diverts 100% (and never has), I don't feel too bad about it. But I wouldn't call this universal by any stretch of the meaning. You might get lucky. Give it a shot, mine is going in the trash.

Saved me from having to call the plumber.
This diverter is exactly as it is seen in the picture and it is exactly as it is described. This diverter will not fit every type of spout, but if you take out your diverter and compare it to the one in the picture then it will likely fit in yours. The picture is of the type of spout that I have in my bathtub. It is the cheap spout that you can get from Lowe's or Home Depot. The diverter rod was slightly too big to fit in the hole of the my spout. I fixed this by hogging out a few hundredths of an inch with an electrical drill and a drill bit. After I did that it worked fine. My spout is not the kind that just screws off, so this little part saved me from having to get a plumber in to change out my spout. It was well worth the purchase.

Will not hold up
Was easy to install, but not made to last. Started out working fine but after a few weeks it would no longer divert most of the water. Kids have to take baths until I can find a replacement. Would not recommend.

The knob for the diverter on my Pegasus faucet came off, leaving the white plastic diverter gate in the tub and no washer to be found. I went to the Large Home Improvement Retail chain that sells Pegasus (It, along with Glacier Bay, are apparently their house brands made by a company in Canada) to find a replacement. After getting nowhere, I came home found this. I used the plastic gate and the included washer (It's a very unusual shape) from this, along with the knob from the existing faucet, and everything working fine. The only hard part was figuring out what to search for on Amazon. Note to Amazon and/or Google: If someone searches for "broken pegasus bath shower diverter", show them this product. (That should do it)

Wouldn't fit
This wouldn't fit out 1970's tub faucet. Even after cutting it down it was too big. In its defense it's very rusted and deformed and taking the old 1 out was a chore. We just replaced the whole faucet instead.

It works, but...
For my DELTA bathtub faucet I had to drill the hole out just a bit bigger for the replacement to fit in the top hole. It was easy, the shaft of the replacement "Lift Gate" was a few millimeters wider. Hope that helps, lots of videos on youtube that will help you out. It's an easy fix :)

The retaining clip was too short so I couldn't use it which is fine; however, it wasn't exactly a 'good' fit and it's still leaking water; though it was much better than before.
