UPDATE 02/2022: Few years later, I'm still using this product regularly. It's not on 24/7, but it's on at least a couple of hours every day. I set the timer on when I go to bed so it turns off by itself, but later when I turn it back on, it's a little buggy where the timer will just automatically turn on again when I try changing any other settings, so I'd have to cycle through the timer to turn it off again. Besides that defect, it still seems to be running fine. I've noticed the price of the filter has gone up though which is unfortunate. Update 04/2020: Using it daily since purchase and I've finally received a red light to change the filter about 2 months ago. I just took a tissue and wiped the dust off the filter and put it back in to see if that would work. You have to press and hold the red filter replacement icon for it to disappear manually. Seems to be working fine again, but I am considering a new filter soon just because I can't reach the other two filter layers underneath the outer one that catches dust. Speaking of dust, DON'T EXPECT THAT THIS PRODUCT WILL SUCK UP ALL THE DUST IN YOUR HOUSE- because it won't. You'll most likely be able to catch more dust on the highest setting (fan 3, super loud like a vacuum), but expect to dust around your house and do your regular cleaning as normal. Most dust particles are too heavy to get sucked up by the filter (unless it falls right next to it and the fan setting is strong enough), but the filter is not strong enough to suck up dust that's like a few feet away on the medium setting (fan 2)- even in a small bedroom. What it is pretty good for though, is keeping a room really DRY with all that airflow... so if you have a bathroom that tends to get moldy due to moisture and a bathroom fan that isn't very powerful, you could leave this on in there (assuming it's on a completely dry surface and the cords aren't near anything wet) and that should help. Also if you have wet laundry that needs to be dried, keeping this on in your room with the wet laundry hanging will speed up the drying process. It also does get rid of smoke and smell quite well as we've dealt with fire in our oven recently. The thing I'm disappointed with is there's no recycling program or a thought towards the ENVIRONMENT when you keep changing filters and tossing the old one into the landfill... just more plastic waste added every few months... that will add up to be quite a lot. So until I can't really feel the air being sucked into the machine anymore, I don't think I'm going to be buying a new filter. (Bumped from 4 stars back to 3 stars due to lack of focus on environmental impact) Update 10/2019: I'm pleased that I have been able to receive a unit that does not make the strange noises I've encountered before. I have been using it everyday for a couple of months now and I always have it on fan setting 1 and the 8-hour timing mode when I go to sleep (it has become a habit that helps me to sleep more comfortably because of the cleaner air and calming white noise). During the day, I'll have it on fan setting 2 for a little more power, but unnoticeable noise increase due to the afternoon just being a noisier time of day in general, and when I'm cleaning the house, I'll turn it up to the highest fan setting 3 since the vacuum cleaner will be "singing" as well. I'm very thankful to have an air purifier and hope it will last me a very long time as it was constructed to do. If I were to nitpick, I did notice that sometimes when I turn on the air purifier and try to change the fan setting from 1 to 2, rather than changing the fan setting to 2 right away, it will turn on the timing mode where I had it before (8-hour, turned off automatically during the night), and I'd have to press the timing button a couple of times for it to cycle through again (2-hour, 4-hour, & 8-hour) before I can turn it off and go back to changing the fan setting from 1 to 2. And as stated in the original review, the buttons can sometimes be a bit unresponsive (couple of taps). Overall, it removes odors in the room pretty well, makes it easier to breathe, and it just turned out to be a product that I didn't know I'd be using everyday. (Bumped from 3 to 4 stars after update) Original Review: Levoit did a lot right with this updated model. Having tried the LV-H132 before, there were certain things that I was really excited about. For one, the design is MUCH better than before. I like that the sides are now opened more to suck in dust and particles whereas before there were only narrow slits down at the very bottom of the unit. The filter is a lot more convenient and easier to install and replace too. I love that they changed the old blue night light to a warm color night light. And I especially love that it consumes less energy than before... and with a timer! But there are some things that concern me about this model compared to the older one that I had. This particular unit that I received makes a strange noise on top of the normal sound of air blowing out. It sounds like crickets chirping and it is loud enough for me to hear it over the fan noise. I double checked the filter to make sure it's placed properly and tried resetting the unit many times, but though it may start quiet, the sound eventually returns and it drives me nuts. I might replace this unit with another one to see if that's just a problem that I've been dealing with. Another big downside with this newer model is the noise at the highest setting (3rd fan setting). It's unbearably loud to me... much louder than the previous model I feel. (Kind of sounds like turning on a loud vacuum or an air blower for yardwork) So setting the fan to the highest setting is a definite no for me and I stick with the first two fan settings. Besides that, the touch controls are sometimes a bit unresponsive and takes a few touches to get them to work, but that's not a big deal.
