This Coat Performed Awesome in Very Windy and Rainy Conditions

I got this jacket on a whim right before leaving for California to run a 50k race. I had an Ultimate Direction waterproof shell but I grew out of it. I also have a Patagonia Houdini, but it isn't really very waterproof at all since that's not its function. The forecast for our 50k said heavy rain and winds 20-30 mph. So I thought I should get something better that fit. After reading all the reviews and lots of debate, I went with this coat. On race day, it poured rain the whole time and the wind was wicked. Temps were probably about 50 degrees. This coat did a great job of keeping me warm and somewhat dry (there was no coat that was going to keep you totally dry in these conditions during a 6 hr run). I would highly recommend it. Light, breathable, water proof enough, and keeps you warm. My only issue was I couldn't get the hood to stay up, but I didn't really play around with it before the race and should have.

This jacket kept me totally dry!

Wow! This lightweight jacket did a great job of keeping me dry! We went on a week-long ATV trip in Quebec, Canada, and it rained half the time with two days of pouring down rain. We were off-roading, so the mud on the trails was atrocious. My clothing underneath remained totally dry most of the time. The only leakage I experienced was from not zipping the side pockets completely closed and not pulling the collar up under my helmet. As soon as I corrected my two mistakes, I remained totally dry! I can’t say enough about how much I like this jacket for being in pouring rain or extreme wet sports-related activities. When ordering, size it large enough to layer underneath. The jacket will cut the wind and water, but there is no lining to add warmth. I wore this over a shirt and a hoodie for warmth.

Marmot Precip wins in taste test

We bought the Mountain Hardwear Finder Jacket and the Marmot Precip Jacket for my wife. She chose the Marmot Precip. The Marmot Precip was lighter and fit better around the butt/hips. Her measurements are spot on to both Marmot and Mountain Hardwear's size charts for a size medium. The Marmot Precip also had pit zips, which are crucial in humid, rainy weather. For $45, the Marmot Precip is a bargain, and I expect her to get at least two seasons of wear, considering she's not hiking or running in it. The Marmot Precip has been a top-selling jacket for +10 years and we're confident with this purchase.

Lightweight, comfortable, waterproof jacket

I just received the Precip jacket and the very next day we had an unseasonably cold, rainy day which was the perfect time to test it out! My husband and I went walking around our local park for approximately an hour through heavy rain and every part of me was soaked except my upper body which was covered by my jacket! It was great. I used the pit zips to stay cooler and they worked like a charm. Definitely recommend. Obviously I cannot attest to the lasting power of the waterproofing however when it does start to fade I will just put some nikwax on it. Tip: look for this jacket on sale. I found it on sale at amazon, rei, backcountry, etc.

Basic rain jacket

I like the look and fit of this jacket, but it is definitely just a very basic rain jacket. I have another rain jacket that I wear everywhere, which has a nice liner so I thought this jacket would be great for color and fit. But, this one has an interior coating to the material that is very sticky...meaning it clings to whatever you are wearing when you put it on. Also, the first few times wearing it I had major static problems with my clothes and hair. I have since tried to wash with fabric softener, but it has only let up a little bit. This jacket is just a very basic shell, and has no warmth at all from cold rain or wind. I really do like the look of the jacket, but it's not going to be my daily windbreaker. I'd only use this to keep in a pack and pull out in a downpour.

Great rain jacket.

I love this jacket very lightweight, comfortable and true to size. The hood is generous but not to large. I highly recommend this product.

Perfect light-weight rain jacket

Breathable fabric, rolls up to approx 6"x4" diameter, is light-weight, good for rain or as a windbreaker. I wore this almost every day on the Camino de Santiago. I'm slender, but the "large" size allows for a sweater underneath, and fits well regardless. Highly recommended

It seems to keep me dry. I do wish it had a little more weight to it. Well, yesterday was the first time I was able to test the jacket in heavy rain...within minutes I was soaked, more aptly, drenched to the skin and my hair. I had it zipped all the way up and the hood on. VERY disappointing!

Great rain & wind jacket

LOVE this jacket. Been wearing it for nearly a month during cold, wet, Canadian spring hikes. Its super light, water tight and wind proof. It is a little noisy when you run or swing your arms with a crinkling sound. The hood is perfectly adjustable and tucks away nicely when you don't need it. The under arm vents are very handy. Tucks inside it's own pocket for easy storage in your pack. The only downside is the lack of inner pockets and the crinkling noise. Not bad for size. 5'6 120lbs purchased small. Fits with lots of room for layers but is still flattering.

Kept me dry!

I ordered this product for a trip to the mountains in the summer. Sure enough, it rained on us while we hiked. This jacket kept the water off me! It kept me dry and warm. The underarm vents were great for the airflow. I can see how people thought the inside had pockets but they're not! And like others said, the jacket is a little "noisy", but it didn't take away from wearing it and liking it. The style was really nice too and comfortable. I'm 5'5" and 135 lbs and a medium was perfect fit! Allows a bit of room for my hoodie underneath (which was worn when it rained), and it was not tight fitting at all. Super comfy! I highly recommend this jacket!

Very light and keeps you dry.

Bought this as an extra lightweight alternative to a heavier HH jacket for travel. It's great, rolls down to small enough size to keep near the raincover in your backpack. Kept me dry on multi hour hikes in the rain. It's fairly windproof too, so a thermal layer under it will keep you toasty. The fit is fairly generous, allowing for multiple layers. Somewhat less comfortable when it's warm out (but raining). Opening the underarm vents helps a little.

It’s very comfortable and light. Use it for fishing and it’s an awesome thing to wear. Easy to store as well so I can bring it all the time with me without having a bulky thing inside my bag compared from other jackets . Got a large size to make sure that it’s always comfortable loose fitting
