The media could not be loaded. The durability and sturdiness of mellissa and doug toys is astonishing! Ive had this set for 2 years now and it is still in great condition besides the drum and symbol have slight wear shown in pics. Check Out my video showcasing the drum and how well it still sounds after 2 years of use! Not all items in set shown in pics that was just what i could find around the house today! Hope this is helpful!

Not very loud but quality product.

Bought these for my niece since my sister bought my kids loud toys as a joke for holidays. My kids even had a similar set when they were younger. Comparing their set I saved to this one it wasn’t as loud. If you like to let your kiddos play with musical things and want to still comfortably read a good book these are great. Over all great product the for giving a reason 4 star was because the clappers needed fixed to make any sound.

Lots of noisy fun!

I have used these instruments for several years, both for my own children and for a small preschool that I run out of the home. The kids like the colors, the sounds, and the variety. With the amount of use they get, they do wear out, but hold up well enough that I have bought the same set twice. When we learn about music in preschool, I start by telling the children the names of the instruments and how to properly make the sound. I then cover them with a towel or blanket and make the sound underneath it, and the kids guess which instrument I used. If they name it properly, I hand them the instrument and we go on until everyone has one. Another game is to have them cover their eyes, then I play a few instruments in sequence, then have them open their eyes and try to repeat the sequence. We go from there to more active playing and dancing with the instruments, we talk about playing soft and loud, fast and slow, and I let them take turns calling the shots for everyone while marching around the room. They also enjoy playing free form, where anything goes and they can dance and play however they like (as long as they aren't being destructive, of course). For some fun toddler/preschool songs to play in conjunction with these instruments, my kids enjoy Greg and Steve's music, particularly the freeze song from their 'Kids in Motion' album. As mentioned by other reviewers, the tambourine is always the first to go. The wooden part is fine, but the cover tears. I've reinforced the bottom of it with a circle of tag board and decorated the top with thin, colorful paper to make them last longer. If all else fails, I just take the cover off completely and the kids still enjoy using the circle part, which has yet to break. The second most common problem is that the black elastic on the clapper will wear out with time and usage. That is an easy fix. I just snip a hair tie, thread it through, and tie it on tightly. The wooden portion is still strong, and I just replace the hair tie as needed. After seven years, my first pair of maracas has finally succumbed to the toddlers continually smacking them together (which I discourage in favor of shaking), and the handle has come off of the cymbals. I am back to buy a third set. For normal home usage, this set will probably last quite a while. Encourage your child to shake the maracas, tap the tambourine (not slap or punch), and they will be able to get quite a bit of mileage out of these instruments.

Doesn't Make Music

I bought this for my 2 year old granddaughter and it doesn't make any noise that even remotely sounds like musical instruments. You can barely hear the maracas, the tambourine and the cymbals. The best part of the set is the triangle and that's it. If you want your child to know what musical instruments actually sound like, do NOT purchase this.

Gave to my friend on her 55th bday

This was a big hit as we listened to our 70s and 80s playlist. My friend Brad said, “If I was going to hit a tambourine on my ass, it would be this one.” My friend Will brought us to tears with his triangle playing. He is a red neck from Ohio. His daughter is a triangle prodigy. These instruments are classic and simple. These 50 something’s were sweating to the music. Thank you Melissa and Doug.

FABULOUS quality for the price especially!

Got these for my toddler granddaughter. She has lots of toys, and I am so happy to report that these are her all-time favorite toys! She walks around with at least one of them in her hands all the time. And we also got her a new trike that has a “truck” which she constantly puts these instruments in. Although it does bother her a little that the triangle doesn’t quite fit. It’s hilarious to watch her try to make it do it. And when she has the triangle in her hand, she always has the wind and the other hand – – she knows they go together! Got these for my toddler granddaughter. She has lots of toys, and I am so happy to report that these are her all-time favorite toys! She walks around with at least one of them in her hands all the time. Very good set for kids below 5 years

Very good set for kids below 5 years. we have this for 2 years now and my daughter love the instruments and always play them with songs. Very good if you want your child to develop interest in music or be active at home rather spending time on screen.
