A great sock to wear with hiking boots.

High quality sock

These are definitely high quality socks that will last for a long time, in my opinion. When I was searching for hiking socks, these came up in my results. I didn't see the one wrong word in the description which was "work." I'm not in need of work socks because they're thicker all the way around so I'll be returning these but again, they are definitely nice socks.

Great sock

Merrill is a good brand. Wool is a good idea. Even for tropical weather. Purchased for my 12 yr old son, who is fussy about how how his socks feel and fit. He loves them. No itchies. And for some reason likes to wear them pulled high paired with shorts. After 8 hours at school, the socks were “really good,” with an emphatic head nod. FYI, several hundred years ago, the standard uniform for Spaniards to beat tropical heat was a layer of linen next to the skin and then wool over that under their metal plate. Cool!

not really wooly

good wool properties are generally good at fending off microbial and smelly feet but these dont really fend off odor for me. i have a pair of smart wool socks that are probably over 13 years old now and they dont really produce smelly feet after a long day on the feet but these after even a half day can begin to smell. something to consider...

Better than expected

These socks are pretty nice, tight at the top so they don't slide down. I work at fedex and walk 4 or 5 miles a day usually. No problems with that. No weird stitching seems in them that make them uncomfortable. I'd definitely buy more.
