Solved my issue

Bait and switch! Not tempered. Too small!

This replacement spring was 1.5 to 2 inches shorter and about 1/4 inch narrower diameter than the original part. Also it is plain steel and not the gold colored tempered steel of the product image and the original part. I had to put a 2 inch length of chain as a spacer to install the part. I have absolutely no confidence it will last. But I need to use my mower so I installed it while I order the correct part from someone else.

Fit my Cub Cadet LT1050 perfectly, reasonable price.

The spring is fine, fits and works fine. The mower deck itself has a design flaw that causes the belt to pop off at the drop of a hat but that's not the springs fault, which appears to be of good constructions and should last a long time. BTW, to reduce the number of times the belt comes off, reduce the engine RPM before engaging the PTO, then increase the engine speed to full power.

It's a spring, but it has a great price

I have a trusty Cub Cadet zero turn that has served me well for 6 mowing seasons, but is starting to show some age. I decided to give the machine a thorough check before this season started and decided that the idler tension pulley spring was in need of replacement. A quick peek at the Cub Cadet site gave me the correct part number and then a quicker search on Amazon found the part for MUCH less than the dealers/local stores offered. Part arrived promptly, was as described and worked as a perfect replacement. After the minor repairs and replacement the mower has been back in action, so mission accomplished. Thanks Amazon!
