Straps broke in the wash

I was careful to follow the washing instructions on the tag (washed cold, gentle cycle) but the straps broke and/or tore in multiple spots anyway. I purchased this because it was machine washable. Seems like it probably needs to be hand washed or at least placed in a garment bag. Quite unfortunate because the fabric was incredibly soft the one time I wore it.
