Doomed to Fail (I have had 4 of these lamp heads fail due to a cheap plastic part breaking)

These track lights were installed by the builder in my new home. While I like the design and appearance of these track lights, the base (the black cubic area that connects to the track) is made of cheap plastic which breaks (fractures). In the past few years, I have needed to replace four of these heads due to the exact same failure. In fact, I have replaced the heads (due to failure) more often than I have changed light bulbs. If you are installing new track lighting, I would highly recommend that you avoid this track light system. If you are hoping to replace a lamp head in an existing track light, you might seriously consider replacing the entire track light, instead. Otherwise, you forever be replacing lamp heads (as they fail) every year or two. If you decide to keep the existing track light, you might consider ordering at least three of these as spares. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a "trick" to removing and replacing the lamp heads. You should probably practice with the replacement lamp head before you climb the ladder. To remove: (1) pull down on the black plastic base cover so it slides back; (2) while holding the sliding part back, rotate 90 degrees so conductor prongs line up with the slot in the track; (3) pull head out of track (this should require no force; if head does not come out of the track, then the prongs are not aligned with the track slot). To install: (1) pull down on the black plastic base cover so it slides back; (2) while holding the sliding part back, insert the end into the track slot, then rotate 90 degrees to engage the conductors; (3) release the base cover; (4) adjust the angle of the light as desired.
