Here's the scoop...
This scoop really delivers! Can't say enough good about it. Quality weight. Easy to use and comfortable handle. Brushed stainless scoop doesn't discolor (I don't put scoops in the dishwasher, btw). Scoop is sturdy enough to scoop extra hard ice cream. This scoop is on par with an old Cutco scoop that we have, but for far less money. Just buy it. You won't be sorry. Will update if issues are found later.

Ice Cream Freezes to the Scoop
OXO products are my go-to preference for kitchen utensils. I bought the latest OXO ice cream scoop to replace the previous model that I had used for years (I loved it but the rubber handle finally wore out). I was surprised at how much the new one weighed. It's stainless steel vs the older scoop's aluminum. That's not a big disadvantage, though. The biggest problem with the new OXO scoop is that it quickly chills in use. The first scoop of ice cream handily falls from the scoop into the serving bowl. The second scoop begins to freeze to the stainless steel and requires a couple of shakes to unload. After that, the ice cream must be dug out of the scoop (with a finger) in ugly chunks. The old aluminum scoop didn't behave this way. I now need to keep a bowl of hot water nearby to heat up the scoop, but that slows me down and is something else to clean up. Finally, the OXO stainless steel scoop has a blunt spade tip with a fairly deep body. It's harder to clean and the blunt tip defeats my attempts to lick it clean after scooping (when nobody's looking). The old model I replaced had a more pointed tip than this one and worked better.

Best ice cream scoop yet!
Best one I’ve had so far. Real stainless steel with no coating to chip off, super sturdy and strong, and it really allows you to scoop even the hardest ice cream.

I didnt think it through
This was to replace a big paddle type of spoon made specifically for ice cream. My old spoon started to flake off its finish, i pitched it. I got this because its OXO and its stainless steel so no more peeling. However the design is for making balls of ice cream as to make it look pretty or for cones. I just wanted something brutal to attack a tub of ice cream in the freezer. I bought the wrong OXO scoop, i should have bought the paddle like spoon. but if I ever want a ball of ice cream, this is perfect

Love this ice cream scoop
Like others have said, this ice cream scoop is heavy, but that helps it glide through frozen ice cream super smoothly. Using my muscles to lift the scoop, not to fight with the ice cream. Love this ice cream scoop.

Needed further designing
Sturdy but not while using, well constructed, handle is 1” too short. Scoop is top heavy due to the short handle. Awkward to hold due to the shape of the handle, S/B round.

Perfect ice cream scoop
I love ice cream. I once had a 60 litre tub of Baskin Robbins ice cream (it's a long story) in a deep freeze in Moscow that I scooped out over several months. I had to take all the shelves out of the freezer to fit it in. The point? that big tub broke my old scoop. Since then I've had several. Most are too flimsy to deal with hard-frozen quality ice-cream with a high cream content. Many dig into your fingers with sharp metal edges when you're struggling to get the ice cream out. Not this beauty. I've used it for several weeks, including on some hard-frozen Haagen Dazs, and it cuts through that ice cream effortlessly. The handle is, as advertised, a "good grip". It's good enough to encourage me to buy more ice cream! The only slight downside is that the finely-sculpted narrow ridges on some parts of the rubber handle, designed to make it more comfortable to hold, are in fact so fine they are hard to clean. It would be better without them. Otherwise, though, the perfect ice-cream scoop.

Perfect Scooper, Wow
I have always done the warm water rinse method in-between scoops.. it is not needed this scooper. Scoops of ice cream don't get stuck! Mind blown.

Solid scooper
Best scooper at this price point. Ergonomic handle and does a decent job at creating a nice ball if angled correctly. Tried the spade version but this does a better job.
