Legrand (Pass & Seymour) "2 In 1 Paddle Switch" This is an UNUSUAL switch. Please read the details below to understand it's capabilities and requirements. There is a lot to tell. This information should help even a beginner. The full model name is: Legrand (Pass & Seymour) "2 In 1 Paddle Switch" RCD33WCC6 (White) The PDF Instructions are available online, search for the above and "PDF Instructions." This is basically 2 "Three Way Switches" stacked into a Single Gang Volume. For those with an "electronics background," a "Three Way Switch" in "Electrical work"...is the same as an SPDT or Single Pole, Double Throw switch in "Electronics work." This unit has 2 SPDTs, one above the other. Please Read The Instructions! You'll have to CHOOSE between 2 available configurations! Look at and understand the schematic for both configurations! This comes with a factory installed, (and designed to be removed) "Split Tab" (their term not mine) on the back side that shorts or connects the 2 Common Screws (Black) of the 2 Three Way Switches. You can pry it out with a common screwdriver (flat blade) or pull it with needle nose pliers. If you remove it, you can reinstall it, but do so carefully! Use caution if you try to reinstall it, IT ONLY GOES IN JUST 1 WAY! If you remove the "Split Tab," this is simply 2 Three Way Switches in a single gang. If you keep the factory installed "Split Tab" in place, it is STILL 2 Three Way Switches, but the 2 Common Screws (BLACK Screws; exactly the same as in normal Three Way Switches) are connected together. ("connected together," redundant, I know! Intentional, emphasis! Leave me alone!) As viewed from the "front" or the "user side;" the word "Legrand" is right side up: Top Switch: The LEFT Common (Black) Screw is for the Upper Switch. The Top Left (Brass) Screw is connected to the Common when the TOP Rocker is UP, "ON." The Top Left Brass Screw is "NO" = "Normally Open." The Top Right (Brass) Screw is connected to the Common when the TOP Rocker is DOWN, "OFF." The Top Right Brass Screw is "NC" = "Normally Closed." NOTE: The Top Right Brass Screw is covered with Yellow Message Tape from the factory! Bottom Switch: (Again: As viewed from the front or the "user side;" the word "Legrand" is right side up) The RIGHT Common (Black) Screw is for the Lower Switch. The Bottom Left (Brass) Screw is connected to the Common when the BOTTOM Rocker is UP, "ON." The Bottom Left Brass Screw is "NO" = "Normally Open." The Bottom Right (Brass) Screw is connected to the Common when the BOTTOM Rocker is DOWN, "OFF." The Bottom Right Brass Screw is "NC" = "Normally Closed." NOTE: The Bottom Right Brass Screw is covered with Yellow Message Tape from the factory! As with ALL "Three Way" switches, either the upper switch, the lower switch, or both switches can always be wired as, and used as, "One Way" switches. Simple "ON - Off." Just don't connect anything to the (BRASS) Screw on the RIGHT Side; as viewed from the "front." The two rockers, upper & lower switch rockers, flip up, and or, down; individually of course. Not left or right as with many 2x or Double: One Way, Single Gang Switches. High quality, well made, good finish. The "White" color is not glossy, it is matte!
