Safety first

Easy to use CO detector, have used this brand and style for many years without issue. Can be located at ground level ( in outlet) which is the best position of CO detection.

Battery compartment is not easy to open at all!

I ordered this plug-in, battery back up carbon monoxide monitor from First Alert. It was a struggle to open the battery compartment in the back of the unit. The battery that came with the unit (9V) was "dead", I found that out after installing it, then the unit chirping. I tested the battery on a device I have and it was dead so it must have been an old battery. Unfortunately, that meant trying to re-open the battery compartment to take the dead battery out and put in a fresh 9V battery. Kind of a hassle! The unit itself arrived in good shape and now that a fresh battery is inserted, it's currently plugged in and hopefully doing it's job of keeping us alerted to any CO in the home.
