Perform well in the field. Have some design issues that could be improved.

I bought these and two other products to try for duck hunting. These have become the pair I'll keep. They don't dampen sounds I want to hear and they don't unnecessarily amplify sounds I'm not interested in. I can blow the duck call, hold a conversation and after the heat of the battle of incoming ducks, I sit back and think, damn, my ears aren't ringing and I hardly heard the rapport. They work pretty good. I don't like the volume knobs. They hang up on your hood. I don't like the microphones. They rub on everything you lay your head against. These could be much better designed for a hunter. But, for me, they are the best that I could find on the market.

Not As Advertised

Despite what the pics show, there is no felt cushion on the right side ear cup on the Pro Ears Stalker Gold. As a result, every time I shoulder the shotgun - happens often when shooting trap & skeet - there is an audible "clunk" and the possibility of damaging the gloss finish on the Browning's stock. Not good. The websites at Pro Ears, as well as all other online sources of this product including Amazon, clearly show the felt cushion. However, it is no longer being applied by Pro Ears and they say the product has been discontinued. The worst part is Pro Ears has no felt part in stock to correct the problem. And they don't seem to think there is a problem. I don't understand why they are still advertising a discontinued product. They don't seem to care. I am very concerned about how Pro Ears will honor the 5 year warranty? Buyer beware!

Good Hearing Protection

I purchased the Pro Ears for three tasks - shooting, bow hunting, and working around the yard. So far they have performed well at all three. Shooting noise is effectively blocked out and I can carry on normal conversation at the range. When I'm bow hunting, I can turn up the volume so I can hear every noise in the woods. I actually use them the most mowing and running the weed eater and leaf blower. I connect to my ipod or iphone to listen to my favorite shows while working. Overall quality is excellent and my hope these will preserve the hearing I have left.

Good, not great

the muffs do not provide quite the sound fidelity I had hoped for. The sound amplification is also somewhat less than I had been led to believe. This said, I get all I really need from this product, battery life appears to be adequate, and they are comfortable to wear.

Not As Expected

I purchased these earmuffs after considerable research with expectations of being able to hear conversations at the range with protection from loud gun noises. I was completely surprised when I walked into the range (indoor) and heard very loud gunfire. I wasn't sure whether I had a defective set or this was the way these were supposed to be. I called Pro Ears and explained the situation and was told "Oh no you need to wear earplugs with these for indoor ranges". I would think that for the price they ask, they would at least mention this in their advertising. I have sent them back and ordered a higher (NRR 28) rating. I'll see how they work and if they don't I'll be looking for another manufacturer.

Can you hear me now?

NO! Not if I'm a gun shot... Comfortable, durable, good-looking and effective, these puppies are NICE! Ambient sound, i.e. conversation, distant critters, shells dropping, etc. can be amplified- a way-cool feature. But fire your gun and the sound all but disappears for just that split second. Yeah, these are pricey. But if you need the good ones, these are it. I shoulda got the pink ones though. Not.

Must have for hunters and shooters

This is my second pair of Pro Ears. I handed down the first pair to a young hunter. This product will let you hear a duck wing beat from 200 yards. A deer or turkey sounds like an elephant walking through the woods. Yet take the shotgun blast down to barely audible. I wish I had warn them 20 years ago and saved some of my hearing.

Great product

This is my 2nd set of Pro Ears, they work great. I still have my 1st pair that I’ve had for 15 Years and they still work but thought it was time for a new pair...

Performs as Advertised

Have not yet used it in the field, but it certainly works as advertised and appears sturdy. Definitely recommended, although very pricey it is worth it.
