Solid and well made
Perfect for when you have to clean a barrel from the muzzle. Not much else to say. Unit is symetrical and solid.

Too Tight For Coated Rod
This rod guide was generally as described and what I expected, but I found the bore too small to easily slip over my Pro-Shot .27 caliber, coated cleaning rod. It was tighter than I liked on my Pro-Shot .27 caliber, stainless steel cleaning rod. I had to use a G drill bit (0.2610" dia.) to open up the bore to provide an easy, sliding fit over both my .27 caliber cleaning rods. I have given this product 4 stars because of this deficiency, and I feel that Pro-Shot Products should have made this guide with a slightly larger bore to more easily slip over all .27 caliber cleaning rods.

I have to say I really like Pro-Shot products. Great cleaning products and very high quality. Except for this time. Ordered two of these .27 and Up Caliber Muzzle Guards. The conical end of the guards are really rough. The brass is really beat up on the ends, enough so that I won't let them near my rods or rifles without correction. Yes, I know the brass is softer than the polished SS rods and my barrels. But I'll let you take the chance with your equipment. K. ;-} If I didn't know any better, I'd bet the lot of them were tumbled around together. Had I paid more attention to them when I received them, they would have returned them to Pro Shot. Alas, I had already discarded the packaging. Ugh.

Protect the Muzzle Crown
Most rifles should be cleaned from the breech with the bolt removed. This is more difficult when cleaning a lever action rifle. The rifle has to be dismantled to clean the barrel from the breech. The Pro Shot allows a person to clean the rifle barrel from the muzzle without damaging the barrel's crown. The crown is absolutely necessary to protect if you want accuracy in your rifle. The Pro Shot Muzzle Protector does this for you. I am happy I found it.

Keeps Cleaning Rods Centered While Cleaning
This is a must have item to protect your firearm's barrel during cleaning with metal rods. Very high quality, should last a lifetime.

Doesn't fit J Dewey's nylon coated rod. Otherwise well made and the like. I'll end up using it for a different rifle. Edit: I should have mentioned it doesn't fit the 30 cal J Dewey nylon rod. Might be overkill to use both a muzzle guard and nylon rod, but I don't like how the muzzle and rifling always shaves some brass off my Jag and the brass tip of the rod each time I insert it.

A Must Have For barrels that are cleaned from muzzle
Got this for my Dewey rod. It will not fit the .27 Cal. Dewey rod without some modification. I just locked it into a vise and ran the appropriate size drill bit through it. It will fit a .27 Cal. Stainless rod, just not the plastic coated one.

Inexpensive and a must for your gun cleaning kit.
You really need one of these for those firearms that must be cleaned from the muzzle. To preserve accuracy protect and preserve that muzzle crown from cleaning rods dragging the edge off.
