Way back in high school I used to run track, then I ran for fun and now at my age I run (slowly) to try to get reasonably fit. I have some varicose veins in one calf that bother me, shin splints in the other that crop up from time to time and I don't recover from injuries and strains like I used to. My personal trainer recommended compression sleeves a while ago and now I won't even put on my running shoes without them. I have a variety of them for different things - there are some activities that I just like a harder compression for - and I like this sleeve for using while I walk on the treadmill. I ended up giving the size large to the dude in the house and ordering a medium for myself as soon as I got it. Their sizing is very accurate and it's important to get the right one because not only was the compression wrong, it was too long on me. It covered my entire calf from the top of my foot to the bottom of my knee cap. The right size should allow an inch-ish over your ankle and under your knee cap. I'd describe the level of compression as "firm." I have others that are extremely firm that I use for running and the elliptical. Those tend not to breathe as well as these do which is one of the things I like. The Shock Doctor sleeves feel almost cool when I first put them on and even post-workout, they don't feel sticky and wet. There's no smell to them either but I tossed them in the wash to see how they held up (great!). The firm compression is great for walking, medium-impact aerobics and other activity. My calves feel fantastic when I take them off, my varicose veins look better than they did before I put the sleeves on and I'm not as worried about calf injuries. I wish Shock Doctor had more nuanced sizing (calf dimension-based maybe?)

Consistent and comfortable pressure; allows user to be more proactive about preventing inflammation

I wear a women's size 10 shoe and have a 17 inch calf. The large fits wonderfully and provides great support for my calves and the achilles tendon. If you running and jumping are your thing, this is a nice product to keep in your gym bag. Nothing causes inflammation faster for me than jumping jacks, which happen to be one of my favorite exercises. Utilizing the sleeves has helped with inflammation issues quite a bit. The pressure of the sleeves is consistent and comfortable even once wet. The sleeves are very easy to put on when the legs are dry. Once sweaty, a bit more pulling is needed to remove them. In addition to the shoe size, consider your calf circumference prior to ordering. My box indicates the following: XS (10.5-12i in); S (12.5-13.5 in); M (13.5-15); L (15.5-17); and XL (17.5-19). To clean the sleeves, place them in a washing machine or hand wash in warm water. Do not place these in the dryer . They quickly line dry. Materials: 75% Nylon and 25% Spandex These sleeves are made in Taiwan.

Comfortable and Breathable - Just Make Sure to Order The Correct Size

Recently I started noticing a pain in my calves after walking for long periods. I thought I would give this Shock Doctor SVR a try to see if it would help. The first thing to keep in mind is you must order the right size. The sizing chart is fairly accurate so the large size fit me well. It provides very good support but my biggest fear was that it would feel sweaty on a hot day. Fortunately the material used turned out to be very breathable. My legs felt warmer but not overly hot and there was no wet or sweaty feeling that some products lead to. The firmness was just enough to keep my legs comfortable without being overly restricting. The one big downside is that the price seems a little on the high side otherwise these seem like a great product.
